Motorcycle tires on skinny rims

These are the exact same engine; like Honda/Acura and Nissan/Infiniti, they generally start with the same engine for a given unibody, then may change airbox design, injectors, etc. depending on model and trim... Other than the plastic on top of the 1.8T (now a DI 2.0T), they are all serialized as VAG (VW Audi Group).

Two answers:

Yes we are using the VR6 with turbo, had the record at 189.6 record is now standing at 190.5. We have gone faster w/G class blown 2 liter, 194.5. Lots of potential in the VR6 to take record from the Toyota in F class.

The name difference does not violate the engine swap rule if YOU can prove that is is the same engine w/a different name on the cam cover.

Thanks, Dan and Luke. I am aware the basic engines are the same. But there are those- I am not one of them- who might take exception calling it a swap. Especially right after they lost a record Just wanted some horses mouth clarification.  End of

Indeed, the VR6 has plenty of potential, as do most of the VAG engines. I assume the "Toyota" is a 2JZ?

You can get forged aluminum 17 inch motorcycle wheels from All American Wheels, http://www.allamericanwheel.com/wheels.html, They are 3.5 wide and have a blank center that you can machine to fit your requirements and they are made for motorcycle tires.

I just reread this post. Confused to say the least. Rule 2.F specifically forbids motorcycle tires on cars, especially over 200 MPH. I don't know why these cars have been passed by tech and why are these tires encouraged by 36 HP Challenge?

Dan, I think the MC tires they are talking about are the Goodyears 17x3 LSR tires, they are not really MC tires.  I think Sparky has them on the front of his Lakester

way more people than me!!!!!!!!!!  They are Goodyear LSR 400 mph rated tires just happen to mount on MC spec wheels because that's what the dragsters run---

they are triple purpose tires  Drag  , LSR  MC

Dan is right about motorcycle tires in the VW 36 HP Challenge.

They are not the 17s.

Guess I didn't pay that much attention to the Vdubs.... they have their own set of rules, like the other speed clubs, but I would guess that most of them weigh less than 2 LSR motorcycles

I can't speak to the topic of motorcycle tires, but I did notice that at least one successful Karmann Ghia was running on Formula Vee tires, which are available in a couple of different diameters (21.5" and 22" at a minimum"

They are legitimate "racing" tires, but I was not able to see a weight rating for them.
