This link arrived in my inbox today.  It's interesting -- especially the part, near the bottom, that talks about how the salt is being depleted and how efforts are being made to preserve and even replenish the salt.  The report comes from Sportscars.tv, whom I thank for the information.

Most interesting is that the article is from a 1963 report on the Bonneville racing.  1963 -- that's 50 years ago!  I was about to being my junior year in high school.  Now I'm almost old -- and the salt is still being depleted and there are still efforts being made to help stop the depletion and replenish the salt.

I will note for Stan that it mentions only 72 classes

Good read, thanks SLim!
