Tires

Does anyone know how to take the paint they put on the tires off without damaging the rubber?  I am trying to take the Good Year painted letters off.  Tony

I presume you're talking about LSR tires instead of raised white letters. I think a fast lacquer thinner on a rag will take the lettering off without harming the tire. I used it then to take the Goodyear off slicks. The fast thinner will evaporate instead of soaking in to the tire.

FWIW  Years ago ( before Armor all ETC. ) when I had a service station, some of my customers would use brake fluid on their tires to make them black and shiny. They claimed brake fluid had preservatives to keep rubber soft and pliable.
Life is an abrasive. Whether you get ground away or polished to a shine depends on what you are made of.

I used the fast lacquer and it worked just fine. Just takes a little elbow grease.

Studebaker Bob Drury used black shoe polish, said so old guy from New Zeeeeland said it worked for him and the tires passed inspection, even filled the cracks.
It's OK Bob, must be the scotch on the rocks that makes me do this.
