I was just viewing another thread and noticed a cooloer strapped down in the passenger side. Now I am making an assumption, but if you have to have flame retardent covering of a fresh air hose, does the cooler not have to be covered as well?

Maybe the cooler went to the engine....most of the ones I've seen do.................

I've seen several coolers ducted to the driver's helmet with a heater fan for cold air circulation.

What thread was the picture on, I maybe able to help. Like Jimmy six, Ive only seen them go into the engine, maybe it was an air to water intercooler with the tanks located in the trunk. The thread name or a picture could help out.

They are the ones used for cool suits. On both the REMR and the Firebird we building tanks for them instead of the plastic ones.  Tony

The pic I saw was the Avanti Kids car for sale thread. I was just surprised that a plastic cooler in the drivers compartment was OK.

I am wanting to use something to cool the air coming to my helmet. Not having to put it in a metal box would make it easier.

Check this website out it may help you.  www.koolboxproducts.com  They offer small and compact systems too although its still a box it looks a bit more stylish.

The plastic cooler works just fine,,, there is a heat exchanger in the cooler,,,  the forced air passes through the aluminum heat exchanger which  is under ice and ice water,,  so no reason for the cooler itself to have extra fire covering,,, the air supply hoses to and from the cover however do need to be in fire sleeve.

I guess I am lucky or just a page filler ??

When Hot Rod Magazine was at Maxton in April we lined up 5 or 6 Studebakers in my Pit for some photos,, we got some good one but not sure the HRM  saw our little Studebaker show,,,
