This was my first and last run TODAY. It ran so much better at Loring in August and Maxton in Sept and Oct last year...The motor did not pull well in 4th. and was wounded... when I started it at the line to warm it for the second run,, it seemed to drop 2 cylinders...
This run put 28 mph on the 124.xxx E/CFALT,,, I went 152.xxx for the new record (glad I did get the record, but not to pleased with the slow speed and wounded motor... I listened to the video and could not tell where it got hurt ??

Bill it was a pleasure meeting you in person,,,, Man I like the new car and the rig (hope our Sept deal pans out) as to my motor problems,, well that motor was 3 years old and ran for records in both my race cars.. it was due for a "refresh" before Bonneville,,, NOW it looks like a "REBUILD" oh well "That's Racing"
CONGRATS on the new D/CGALT record... great job first time out... I GUESS you know that was MY RECORD you took.. LOL,.... I set that record in October at 164.xxx in the D/CGALT using my little E motor and I knew it was going to be broken soon,,, I am GLAD it was you and your new car that got it,,, Your D motor seems to have a bunch more in it... Hope to see you back in May...If you need anything let me know..
Once again Congrats,, I know it was a lot of work to get the new car to the track... But YOU DID IT,,,most talk about it,, only a few do it...YOU are now a Land Speed Record Holder,,, Owner and Driver.. Welcome to the club...
Tell Matt I said Hello and Congrats as well...

Charles,
I watched and listened to the video several time, and I swear I can hear a popping sound just before you shift out of third into fourth. It sounded fine and seem to be pulling hard up to that point.

Giff, yes if you look at the tach you will see me shift at 8000 from first to second and second to third,, in third at around 7200 I heard and felt a miss/slight crackle,, so short shifted into 4th at 7200... it still pulled but did not feel right,, oh well

Thanks, Charles for the advice and encouragement. I will pass it on. For a guy that has had so much success as a professional drag racer Matt is a great guy. He worked his tail off to help me. And since I dont have my CDL he drove that big a$$ rig 11 hours up and 11 hours back.
I am sure the E motor will be back and better than ever...

Hey Charles, congrats on the record man !
It was great talkin to you as usual wish we could of talked more but there where so many people to talk to it's hard too stay in 1 place for too long.
I would check to see if detonation was the cause of your issue due to what we where talkin about. I agree it sounded like it went in 3rd Hopefully it's not to bad. I'm sure it is alot better than mine.
-
Mike, will do on the detonation.. but yes it started giving up on the 3 to for shift,, I knew it felt sluggish but was still gaining mph to the finish,,,
I watched the raw footage that shows the full run after the chute pull and when the chute fully blossomed (I can see it in my mirror) that momentary loading was the final blow where the main damage was done,,,
I did not notice it in the car,,, but reviewing the tape several times leads me to believe it was going in 4th gear and gave up in shutdown..
Oh well,,, we have just enough time to get a FULL REBUILD/UpGrade done before May.
Hope you get your motor fixed soon too Mike.
See ya,
Charles

At the point that you went into 4th gear was at a point when you where making MAX heat also. Do you have data for Exhaust temp?

I did look at the water temp at the finish it was 190 degrees.. Oil Pressure was good...
