Title: Where to Stay
Post by: Dave Haller on March 21, 2011, 09:14:01 PM
Me and the crew are planning on coming down for the May meet. Need your input on where to stay. Having been an old LAPD copper I know Adelanto is probably not the best place. I am thinking Victorville is within easy reach of the lake but don't know anything about places to stay there. Any suggestions?

We used to stay in Adalento, but we now stay in Victorville.  It's about 25/30 minutes from the lake bed.

The Days Inn in Adelanto is OK. It is the closest to the lakebed. The problem is that you have to drive almost to Victorville to get to any decent restaurants or stores, so you might as well stay there too. Lot of motel choices in Victorville.

We have stayed at Days Inn several times, first from pure ignorance , but found it fine
Police station across the road may help it stay quiet in that area .

Dave,

As noted before there are a number of places to stay in Victorville. We like the Greentree Inn (Best Western) right off the I-15.

Staying one night on the Lakebed is fine, and fun. For 2 day meets, a shower and a soft bed is even nicer.

836,
Thanks for the heads up. I would like to camp out on the lakebed with the rest of you but don't have a motorhome or even a tent. Besides, I know how the wind comes up out there and staying in a tent might not be the way to go for these crickety old bones.
See you there!!!!!
