hey John, yup, the tribe is assembling.
This event has become so huge, it's hard to believe.
in oct 2003 we had about 30 cars & 6 bikes, 1 day event.
now over 200 racers and 3000+ spectators, 3 day event
race registration sold out in less than 36hrs a couple months ago.
Good on the organizers that they are continually ahead of the huge increase in racers and spectators.
Bike guy Ryan Arnold was recently named Race Director, so us 2 wheelers are being taken care of.
Yay Ryan
Track record holder (261) Tom Gates will arrive today, Bill Warner is already here.
If the wind cooperates we are looking forward seeing Bill & Tom & the other turbos get after it.
forecast is breezy to put it mildly ;fingerscrossed

John,
nearby Victoria airport reported 20mph gusting to 40 for much of the afternoon.
We didn't see that, more like 20-25mph almost on the side.
MC guys pretty much started drinking beer (Cornoa, you were missed) in the mid afternoon.
It wasn't really dangerous, as the gusting wasn't too bad, just the strength of the sidewinds.
(Bill warner has a good video of tilt)

How about 270 MPH Sat. morning for a new track record. :-o Who, why Wild Bill of course. Wonder how much diesel is to Mojave next Spring? LSL
-
Nice Job
-
One of the Gallardos just wrecked pretty bad, anyone know if the driver is ok?

Bring it and make sure to try your luck at El Mirage as well, might as well try it once...
Congrats to Bill for his record 270 run..now stop messing around and go faster..
-
Kick ass Bill!

Awesome job Bill.

yesterday, sat wind was 5 on the nose at 8am, climbing to low 20's from FR around noon, dropped to teens in the late pm, Racing was halted at dusk, still windy. Gust was higher.
We had an EZ-up incident at mid day, thanks to the crowd at TFA Central only one was toast (Jason from dallas)
Oh well.
Still Bill got his 270!!!!!! Tom Gates had issues, a gremlin or 2, but his bike sounds and looks great. We have big hopes for him today!!!
Doug got a 197 in the morning and 195 in the afternoon on my 12, bike sounds awesome, and doug rode perfect agressive passes; fukken wind.
Brenda had a crazy wind experience during shut down, was hoppin' & poppin' around the Pits afterwards OMG-OMG-OMG.
Wild Bill & JC coppertop turbo running in the 190's, practically no one running like they want.
I got a 216.7 on the green Busa on first pass, lit tire up bad (good? ) outa the hole.
Lambos are a treat to watch run, they have so much hp (1500+?), some are having traction issues as far down the track as we can see. There are 6+?? of em. An orange one apparently had too short of a chute line and the ass end was lifted off the ground during shut down, rolled lotsa times, driver OK. Subsequent track shutdown screwed my chance for a 2nd pass in the am.
The number of participants and spectators is off the charts. Too damn long grid waits, people everywhere. Kids n dogs, kids n dogs...
Organizers let too many participants in this time, but Today, Sunday should be lighter.
Wind forecast for today is 6-9mph at 9am, incr to 9-13 miday slowly tapering offf in the pm.
TFA will be as close to the front of the initial grid as we can get.
-
WoooooHooooooo Bill!!!!! You rock buddy!
-
Carl Francis drove all the way down from Calgary with his wife and two young sons.
Good luck Carl!
-
I came home last night. Carl is pitted with TFA. Working hard, fighting gremlins and the wind. Hope he gets things sorted out today. He said we might see your double at Bonneville next year?? Hope so.

270 plus has got to be incredible, GREAT JOB!
Before we know it 300 will be the next 200.
-
If an open roadster went 300+ at B'ville, some scooter will soon go 300+ on pavement.

OK, you guys are killing me...did Bill get to run again...how fast?!?!?!?

Joe,

-
WOW! Congrats to Bill Warner and to everyone that helped build and crew that beast...
Jeff Tudor
-
I guess we are all just so ready for instant results thanks to Slim, Ray the Rat and all the others who report LSR updates quicker than NASCAR and NHRA!!!
-
Bill warner's 278 pass...
what can you say...
I can 110% say that I have never seen anyone in LSR get out of the hole/thru 1st as violently as Bill did on his 278 pass.
The tire was screeching like you hear when someone comes outa the waterbox and starts to hook at 1/4 mile.
For a sec i thought Bill was gonna abort as the bike started getting just a lil crossed up, but Bill modulated the throttle just a bit, never chopped it, and went fukken flying down the track.
A genius set up that chassis, a master was in the saddle.
Everyone in the grid area got a real treat on Sunday.
as far as hitting 280-290-300 in a Mile????
hmmmmmm...
time will tell, but i'm guessing that even matching that 278 pass is not gonna be easy
You had to see it to believe it
-
Texas, Texas, Texas,,, come on .. where are the updates, pictures and results ?
Sounds like for the most part it was a good event..
I sure wish I could have seen Wild Bill make that 278+mph pass,,, Had to be an amazing start and even more thrilling getting stopped .!!!

The driver is okay. The Lambo... not so much.

Thanks everyone
TX wind is brutal. One clean run a day is all I could get. By 9:45am each day, the side wind was enough I could not get over 250, the bike would lean so. Was hoping for a head wind but it never would come around.
TX people are the best, super kind and friendly.

Bill,
Congrats, you are setting the bar way too high.. :-D

Congrats Bill-you are definitely "THE MAN" when it comes to bikes. Great job.
