Sorry but I don't think we will do a build diary. Our car is so unconventional, I don't want to have to explain ourselves to all the neighsayers. We just won't have the time for that. We will keep in touch with the SCTA officials to make sure we are compliant with all the rules but everyone else will have to wait to see what we show up with. It's not that we want to be secretive, it's just that there is only so many hours in the day. Hope you all understand.

Sure, I understand -- but I need to remind you that by not having a build diary on the Forum -- you're forgoing your chance to have your car featured on the Salt Talks '11 t-shirt.

With that known -- are you SURE you don't want to show us what you're doing?

I would do a build diary and ignore the neigh sayers ... especially the land speed experts without a ride ... Having someone else opinion on safety items isnt a bad thing .... another advantage to posting is that you have to get the machine through tech ... I discovered at Bub's that Curtis Smith - Chief Tech Inspector - was familiar with my bike from the build diary ...

I agree  with 55chevr

My Build Diary was very detailed, it helped in several ways.

 1. on a few items the posters caught a "potential rules or safety issue" and I was able to resolve it during the build.
2. had a lot or support and motivation from the forum members.
3. The tech officials also followed the build, so when I presented the car for it's first tech, all 3 inspectors where familiar with the car,,, they however still looked it over with a fine tooth comb. and it passed the first time out to go over 200.

Just have thick skin if you get some un welcome negative comments since your build will be more special construction. There is more to learn by posting (for us all) then there is negative, 99% on here are good folks.

You don't have to go overkill with a build diary, snap a couple pictures with a little text to explain to us what were looking at.  Our build diary helped us make a few changes for the better.  Sometimes during a build you get so rushed to finish the mind sometimes doesn't keep up with the decisions made.  Just a thought, good luck with your build.

Good luck with the build and even if you don't do a diary don't be too worried about the poo-pooers and post up a question or at least throw out a couple PM's if you have any questions. You don't want to spend a day and a half working on your junk trying to pass tech like me!  :-D

Look buddy, I am the only one that will say 'neigh' and who gives a S- what I say.

"NEIGH", there ya go, get over it and do a BD.
