It is at the bottom of the 2010 Supplemental (scroll all the way to the bottom for current records). In 2008 Tom Mellor ran 750 MPS-PG setting the AMA record at 180.317
Where is that record listed? I haven't been able to find it :?
Just after I saw Tom, I saw Peg Leg Craig's pit and he graciously offered to pose in front of his partially streamlined sidecar rig. He's good people.
We were on the access road to the salt this morning for the second day of racing at 6 am today. Everyone was being turned around because of water on the salt. They said to come back at 10 am. We only made one run yesterday and that was 199.91, with VERY slippery salt, and no big speeds so far.
On tires here at BUB. Drew Gatewood, head scrutineer, had all the 200mph guys promise to report tire data to him. After my last run I measured the temp at 90 degrees with ambient salt temps around 83 degrees. So nothing to report yet. My daughter's husband who was riding my turbo ZX-10r had a FRONT tire blow out at 163 mph but he hung on withou going down. The valve stem broke and we have no idea why. We spent a few hours fixing the tire and all is OK now.
We have 4 more days of racing, so hopefully there will be some better news to report.

Ray:
That "great big thing" you saw (and pictured) is a section of windmill stand/tower.

Yep it's part of the newer model 400' tall wind generators. You know, one of the things that are robbing gigajuoles of energy from our atmosphere. Talk about affecting our weather, this has the potential to be way worse than so-called ozone depletion and greenhouse effects.Them darn joule thieves are at it again. :x Wayno
Prove me wrong. Think maybe I'll write a book and make a movie.

Ray,
411 Bike is the right color for the Burkland's crew. Rex Svoboda is in the timer's stand along with Tom Burkland. For the final word on it's provenance you could ask there.
Waters and Higgins ... 750cc GSXR ... 218.281 mph
Streamlining is limited to seat/tail section and windshield/fairing.
With the rider in the racing position, the rider must be able to be
seen (hands and arms excluded) entirely from either side.
How does #85 with the roll bar run in APS?They have run it the last few years for time only. It is giving them some seat time while they work on another project that will be a full streamliner.QuoteStreamlining is limited to seat/tail section and windshield/fairing.

Ray, you are all spoiled at speed week as I try to keep everyone informed to whats going on with three courses and they can't even announce whats current on any thing. That really sucks. Announcing is a huge part of the event. It means a lot to the other racers and the general public. Thanks for you and Joe for your inputs, at least we get something.
Ray and all you guys thanks for all the up to the minute updates and all the photos.almost makes me feel like I`m there.NOT. I even Drug my knuckles on the cement,Hit my little finger with a ball pin hammer and burned my forearm on a hot pipe just to feel like I`m in the Lambky`s liner Pit. The latest I heard on Lambky`s Liner when they turned off early was Hartmut was running off coarse do to a strong wind, and it was`nt sounding right. There is also a leak behind the Clutch. They will be the last boys off the salt tonight.Later Days Little Max
Ray..
Any news of top speed for the event or what speed Craig ran if he did his return run in the liner/sidehack?
Thank you everyone for the updates and pictures..
Let's think about it -- #7419 -- looks kinda familiar, doesn't it? Something about STD on the tailpiece -- like, mmm, Speed Team Doo? Now where, oh where, have I seen that bike discussed?
I know -- here on the forum! Of course. How could we forget?
Ray, you're forgiven for not remembering instantly. I forget things now and then, too.

Ed let me sit erhhh...in(?)...on(?)...it. Not bad at all. The black thingy down by where your feet are
is the gear lever. Kick it right or left and that's the gear shift.
Fantastic !
hey John i need 56mm pistons instead of those 54mm

just got a txt from Craig... he went 181.9 and had salt gremlins mess with some electrical stuff.... he's gonna give it another go tomorrow

SO far my good friend,Greg Watters has fastest passes, yesterday ran 209 on short course after rain closed the long one. Geared too high. Today ran 218 on his 750,spinning through the lack of traction in the measured mile.
All speeds are down at this meet.
I ran a 189 on the naked 750,spinning quite a bit.
And no tire issues on either of our bikes running z rated street tires!
What tire is on that Confederate?
Bill

Hey Bill that's your old brand
On the positive side, you only have a few more hours to wait today :-D
We're still waiting for the wind to die down. Been waiting 5 hours.
Max
Joe, thanks. If you find out his speed please let us know.
where are all the fast sit on bikes. ie the 250mph and above. it seemed that before speedweek and bubs there was a lot of talk about one of the sit on bikes going 300mph. so where are they.
My friend and mentors Greg Watters on his 750 went an unbelieveable 229mph today. He is a stellar man, and it is an honor to call Jim a friend. Go team Watters/Higgins!!!

Joe, a V twin from town here ran 163 this am.. dyno said 142 ft lbs on the rear wheel last week...FWIW..
..nope.. RG...
754...humor me, you mean the 80 ft lb torque for perhaps a mighty HD being harder to handle
than the 120 ft/lb plus that the turbo bike 750 has...??
above is just for fodder/entertainment....
seriously...THANK YOU DON for the info...YOU guys and gals are the
warriors and warriettes out there in the battle, what YOU say matters...
thank you ALL (ray, 55chvr etal) for the feedback..!!!
care to share what tire you had luck with?

..hmmm...a turbo charged 750 went 229 mph...the fastest 750
pass in the history of mankind....anywhere on the planet....including pavement
and concrete...
and gee...not a busa and not rcc....guess that is another wives-tale to throw
away...
Congrats to Greg and Jim ,, impressive speed from the little 750 8-),, unfortunatly he wont be able to back it up as the motor broke ,,, agree with your observations Joe :-)

I don't recall which thread Ray put his request for financial support in -- but so far I've received three donations for him. I'll send the check to him now, rather than just hand it to him at WoS. Who knows -- maybe he needs to pay for all of the digital film he's acquired. . .
As for Joe -- sir, while I understand you're doping it for fun and for the good of the land speed racing fraternity -- would you please consider accompanying Nancy and me to a fine meal at the October ECTA event? We'd even pay your bill. Thanks once more for your help. Thanks to all that are keeping us informed about what's going on out there.
Ray, are you coming back for WoS, WF, and the Shootout? Is SSS heading back West this year? Stellar job from all posters on the flats.
Hey all,Greg was able to back up run, that was what hurt motor. He was rushed by the workers to get up to back up run and wanted to put ice in and was not able. He had a nice chat(not) with officials after and now we are able to just that!!!!upped his record by 1 MPH. Great effort. Headed to banquet.
Still FASTEST pass!!!!!! :-)
the know the Nugget does not have internet in any of the rooms.... the Pilot truck stop down by smiths does...

B77 ... Eric Bennett .. Balls Out Racing / Bennetts Performance / S&S Cycles ... 3000cc APS PG on Intl course ... beautiful machine ... 128.730Great job of relaying the action Joe - One short note about the 77 Bike - It actually was built and owned by John Yeats and his bride Dexter, and has Eric Bennett at the helm. I think they blew the trans resulting in that mph number. I hope I upload the picture of the threesome properly. Iam still a bit of a cyber Neanderthal. Had a great time at the BUB meet this year and was glad I had a chance to meet you and chat while in pre stage.
2010 results to be posted soon...... Iv'e had to rebuild my database and reimport the timing data after a computer issue. I hope to have the results, and soon after the tentaive AMA records posted early next week (13-17th Sept). I apologize for any inconvininece this may cause and will notify the mailing list once the data is here.

I saw leslie do it 3 times and my buddy saw it another time.
If I am not mistaken I believe they told everyone to only use the one line after about the 2nd day. I know this happened with the 2 short course lines for ridden bikes. On day 1 you could pick either mtn or Intl course for bikes that were ridden to the starting lines. But on Tuesday I think it was they only had 1 line for the short course and the workers decided which course you would be sent to. I believe it was AMA Ken who implemeted this rule. I did not see any towed bikes using the other side to go to long course after the first day or so. Everybody came around on the left side.
We both need bikes that can go faster than 175 mph so we can go long course!!!
Some day I hope to have my wife on a bike going 175 mph +!!! Give me 2 years

Short course bikes are an entirely different list.
