Gary is a true icon of the sport. He has set more records with his red roadster than anyone else that I know of. Spent some time with him in the last few days and he is fading fast.
Gods speed to Gary Brauer and family, they are some of the best people to ever set foot on the salt, or on any other peice of the earth for that matter.

The sad news is being passed arounjd out here at the Shootout, with many folks having stories to tell about Gary.  Let's also set the record straight -- his name is/was Gary BRAUER -- not Bauer.

We all send our respects and condolences from the salt.  Enjoy watching the show from the best seat there is, Gary.

Gary was a friend (and sometime's customer) for over 45 years. His passing is a hard one to take.

Whether racing the drags, sand , Elmo or Bonneville he never did it with anything but CLASS!

Gary stories will probably go around for a long time to come.

I've got tears in my eyes but I'm smiling.

Gary will be missed. He always had a class act in racing. He has gone through a lot the past few years and never complained. His roadster that he and his son ran was something to be proud of. Gary, you did good and was a great part of LSR. God Speed my friend.  :-(

This morning Mike Cook asked us here at the Shootout to observe a moment of silence - in respect for Gary and the many memories we have of him.  The Salt was quiet -- and we all hope Gary was getting cranky so we'd start racing.

Terry from Bend in the Road asked me to post this:

"Gary, what can you say, a super guy, one of the truly caring individuals wearing land speed colors. You hear it from time to time, the guy who would give you the shirt off his back, he was that guy.  I will truly miss seeing you around the bend honking all the way & the big smile.  God speed to you."
