Title: fuel lines
Post by: oldracer19 on June 21, 2010, 11:59:54 AM
For some reason, I was under the impression that either metal shielded or metal fuel lines were required in the engine compartment, but in re-reading the rule book (section 3.I) it appear that rubber lines are OK, as long as they utilize a metal clamp.  I would prefer to use AN type fittings, I assume they are legal as I am sure I have seen a number of pics where various cars use them, but they are not mentioned in that section.   Comments? :-P

Talking with Keith at Maxton this weekend and he was saying that SCTA will no longer allow fuel line to be run through the passenger compartement even if it is run through a steel tube, ala nascar stuff. I didn't see anything in the 2010 rulebook that really said that but want to make sure before we go moving lines.

I too would like clarification on this. The fairlane has no safe place to run a fuel line under the car being a unibody car so I was going to run metal tubing through the passenger area to run AN line through.. As said in the book hard lines are ok so metal shielding accomplishes the samething. :? :?

the2010 book says

"no flexable fuel lines of any kind are allowed in the drivers compartment"

sounds like shielding makes no difference, you have to use hard lines.
