Title: Resources
Post by: dwarner on October 12, 2005, 12:42:22 PM
I'm looking for a resource for vehicle body dimensions, i.e. '27 Ford T roadster. There are in excess of 16 million entries for Ts on Google. I can get it down to 755 entries but still cannot retrieve the info I need.

Autobooks/Aerobooks in Burbank does not have a '27 T book. Anyone know of another place I can go?

Thanks in advance,
DW

Dan,  I posted a note asking this information on a street rod board that Sumner and I are on and I got this information.  It came from the Speedway site.  You might go there and look at the information.  http://www.speedwaymotors.com/error/error404.aspx?404;http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Default.asp

From the Speedway site:
Dimensions:

Total length 90"

Firewall width 29"

Firewall to back of dash 16 1/2"

Firewall to back of seat 55"

Firewall to center line of rear axle 75"

Widest point of body 49"

In the 60's a guy from the south east used to run an NHRA C altered with a Saxon body just to confuse the tec guys .

Smner/Junk,

This is a start. I don't know if Rich's bodies are equal to stock but, this gives me a start. I'm looking for the width of the turltle deck and across the doors also.

Thanks,

In the 80s GM built a new state of the art auto plant in Wentzville MO. They made the new front drive Oldsmobile 98 there. At the unveiling we took 2 new cars to a local banquet center.  We pushed the first one down the hall into the dining room and to the right of the stage. It was a tight fit! The second car would'nt fit through the door. Except for color, they were suppost to be identical.
I've measured many cars over the years, and rarely find 2 the same. Wishing now I would have taken notes.
Fiberglass ones are the worst, but sometimes the steel ones get bent just as bad over the years.
wescottsauto.com has great frame specs, but I've never been able to find accurate body specs. Good luck and let us al know if you find a body dementions source.
