The Gold Coast Roadster and Racing Club made a major decision this week.
Generally the event is the last Saturday in September but the changes in the LSR schedules have necessitated a change.
With the special meets, Bub and Mike Cook's Shootout, many people can not fit the Gas up into their schedules and have
asked if there is any way that it could be rescheduled.
The new date will be April 30, 2011. There will be no event in 2010 since there would not be enough time between events for
the event people to organize and arrange it.
The spring date will be the new annual time. So for 2011, mark you calendar for April 30.
Here are several fotos from the 2009 event.

Several more Gas Up cars.

If anyone is interested and in the Los Angeles area the Mickey Thompson display is at the NHRA museum until Oct. There are a lot of his cars and other MT stuff, also many pictures of what he did. Don't miss it if in town.

RE: 18th Annual Dry Lakes Racing Hall of Fame
The Gold Coast Roadster and Racing Club wishes to take this opportunity to announce a change in the date of the annual Dry Lakes Racing Hall of Fame GAS UP.
Due to the many events just prior to, during, and immediately after the usual September date, the Club has decided to move the event to the spring - just prior to the first El Mirage event in May.
To facilitate the move the 2010 event will be delayed until APRIL 30th, 2011, so mark your calendars now!
After 2011 we expect the event will be held in the first week in May depending on the holidays around it, like Mother’s Day and Easter.
For SCTA Clubs and other voting members, expect your ballots for the 19th Annual Hall of Fame to arrive in October of this year.
We believe this change will be more convenient for more participants and allow more racers to attend. We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we transition to the new date.

When you come to Gas Up 2011, Saturday April 30, 2011, look me up.
I do the foto album so I'll be all over the place.
We need to pay respects to Gene Burkland and the Burkland family.
He will be honored at the event.

Always a great event, A place where the racers gather and see the new inductees and why they are so honored. No politics. Many great stories and displays of the history of LSR. The list of inductees is awesome. See you there.

I will be working parking cars but still try and see everyone I can.

Can you imagine Betty wanting to bring the 'liner back to the Salt?
I think it burns inside her.

The Gas Up was a blast, so many great LSR people, and the ones we have lost remembered . Seeing and hearing the stories are wonderful. The Gas Up facility was built by Jack Mendenhall and he had traveled all over the country and collected for over 40 years to make this happen.
The tri-tip dinner was super. Many door prizes including a 26" flat screen TV. The Ack Attack motorcycle, Fergusons streamliner and the B &N roadster were on display as well as a bunch of other hot rods outside the compound. The weather was perfect as well.

I'm really glad I went. :-D I had driven down for Dana Wilsons services and while there it was suggested that I head up to the Gas Up. Good move. Wayno

Home at last.
Never has an event flashed past me so rapidly. So many people. So little time.
There were people that I saw for an instant and never remember of seeing them again.
People who have had health issues that they have survived. What a revelation.
I think it's time to leave the camera home and sit in one place and enjoy the view.
Gold Coast, you are awesome. Best wishes for Tim when they repair him.
Matt, save some energy for later in life.

Some of the deviants on their way to a very slowly served supper.
At least they are all in one place if the CHP needs to deal with them.

I guess there is no reason to start a new post..........it's all about the Gas Up.
On the home page of Landracing.com is a summary of the happenings at this years event.
It's possible to buy a ticket at the event. The weather forecast looks excellent for Saturday.
Grab a bottle of water, fire up the roadster and come on up. The BBQ provides excellent
tri-tip roasts and the beer is cold. Even if you don't know anyone when you arrive, I
assure you.....you will know someone new when you leave.
If you see me wandering around with the camera, pull my chain, talk loud so I can hear you
and add to my weekend.
