I am a software user and no way affiliated with anybody and have already asked Jon for permission to post. This is really about the best software deal I have ever seen. :-o Many LSR folks could use some of these programs. I have used RSA software in the past when it was Dos based. You might have too! Check it out. www.quarterjr.com

i have used the Bonneville program.... its easy and pretty darn accurate...

Here is the interesting part. If the 999 goal is not reached you can apply the $99 promotion package price as a discount to the Engine Pro program! It is not spelled out in the link but is in a postings on their forum.
-
Look under products to find the Bonneville Pro.
I've used the program with updates since 1991 or 92 on the #222 Langlo Camaro.
And have recommended it several times.

Bonneville Pro was one of their freebies during the 1st 48 hrs of the sale. I think the "bonus pool" has timed-out now. However, they are being very generous and an email to them might get it included at the end of the sale. See lower right corner of the link for programs that were a bonus.

I just ordered mine, it's a shame I can't download it on my government computer though.
Guess I'll have to wait till I get home.

That is probably a good thing. You want to run it on a computer that is dependable :-D :-D
-
now the B'ville, 32 and the eng PRO for $99. I might go for :-D
-
The 3rd milestone has been met. Everyone is now getting these additional programs at the end of the sale. (1) Density (2) four link and (3) Quarter Jr. :-D :-D
I sure hope we get enough sold to get Engine Pro.
-
Actually I'm kind of wondering just how much I can use these...I'm sure getting a diesel pick-up to 200 won't be quite the same.

Scott
software is just like any other hammer in your tool box.... how hard you swing it will determine your results.... the Bonneville program is scary accurate.... get it you wont be sorry

That is what it is all about, Sparky. At this moment 868 bundles have been sold. Only 131 more to go in 4 days and you get Engine Pro free . . . or to put it another way, it is added to your $99 bundle when the sale ends.
-
I placed my order last night. I just checked on total sales......902!
Tell everyone you know. Buy an extra for yourself. Buy one for your neighbor. Get one for your dog!
-
Well I took the bait :-D
-
I`m in too, sent the link out to some racing friends. 987 sold as of Sunday evening, looking real good. C`mon Engine Pro..... !!
-
It looks like we made it! As of Sunday evening 1003 bundles were sold. Have we all just increased our competition? :-D :-D

Just a quickie.
Does the bonneville software work fo M/C and if so how accurate is it?

I haven't had the time to seriously use it yet. However, it deals with all the standard stuff like atmosphere parameters, engine HP curve, Cd and frontal area, and gear ratios (trans and final drive). It will not use a tire less than 6" in width. I don't know why there is a tire width limitation. The big deal for a bike would be knowing your Cd. There also might be a weight limit. Meaning there may be a lower limit for the program to calculate and a bike may not meet it. Physics is physics . . . quantifying the variables leads to accurate results. But in the case of a bike some of the inputs might be outside the calculating range of the program.

Generally agree with Saltfever. I just opened up my copy of BV pro. It will take tire width of 3-21". (remember this program is an outgrowth of a drag race program), Tire diameter 1-60",frontal area 1-100sqft, Cd up to 2.0, weight 750-19500 (including driver of course),wheelbase 24-300...Looks like they were calculating for go carts too. anyway, if you can get decent Cd and frontal area, it will give numbers. has been pretty accurate for my firebird, but thats different story

Thanks for that update, Jeff. I had just downloaded it and tried it for the first time. For some reason it blew up when I input my 5" wide Bonneville tire. I'm sure it was user error. Based on what you say it looks like a motorcycle could easily fit into the limits and it would be a useful program. To get CdA, Rockstar could do a coast-down test and get very accurate results since it includes area as well as Cd in the result. Cost-down tests are extremely accurate if done correctly (but it is not easy to be accurate). I think the archives may have something on a coast-down or Google it. Allowing for relative wind and the tire-to-ground contact are necessary for a good test result.
EDIT: I just checked my program (ver 3.2.2) and the tire width in inches is 6.5 - 22. That eliminates just about every LSR Goodyear. My download was 2 days ago and I'm assuming it is the latest version. What version do you have Jeff?
-
Thanks for the info guys, will do more research!.
Dave

Am running it on two different computers and not sure if identical versions. But it is 3.2.2, 2003 on my one at home where I am now. It shows 3.5-21.5 width accepted. Not sure the discrepancy. However as I mentioned before about the drag origin, don't think means much for LSR. And just now running a simulation entering a 5" tire and a 20" tire it made 0.6mph difference( out of 230). I wouldn't worry about it, enter the smallest it will take.
-
Yeah, good point, Jeff. . . it makes very little difference. Tire slip (i.e., salt conditions at the time of the run) is probably the greatest unpredictable variable and will cause a greater deviation from the calculated results.
My program displays the tire widths you indicated when I press the tire worksheet button. However, when I enter a small dimension it defaults to no less than 6.5" width.
-
Just playing with it again, the allowed tire width changes with tire DIAMETER! What were you using there?
-
Interesting! I was using a 87.9" roll-out (i.e., the 28" diameter Goodyear). When I get time I may get back to the author and ask about a few quirks. If so, I'll post results. Right now I'm busy with "tax time".
