Title: Pickup Question
Post by: Genuine GM on January 21, 2010, 10:47:07 AM
I have a pretty simple question.  Let's say I wanted to run in Production Pickup, and I am using an older body style truck with a wood floor.

Do I have to keep the original style wood floor or can I replace it with something else (plywood, later steel floor)?

It wouldn't affect external airflow, but it might change weight slightly.

Please advise.

You can replace the bed floor with metal. Because you are running in Production class the bed floor must be mounted in the same location and be of the same shape as OEM.

If you mean the actual floor in the cab of the truck then yes you can swap it out with steel.  The last thing we would want is your feet and legs coming out from under the cab.   :-o

You must be thinking of using a pretty old truck if it has wood floors (assuming you mean the floor in the cab and not the floor in the bed).  Pretty sure production truck class is limited to '46 and newer trucks.

My '77 Ford F100 step side had a wood floor in the bed.

I cant imagine anyone taking issue with the bed floor.

Cover it and nobody will ever know....(he..he... he...). But yeah, unless you tilt the bed to make it into a spoiler or attach it sideways to make you thinner, you won't be in trouble....
