Title: New Streamliner at El Mirage
Post by: Glen on November 11, 2009, 01:47:47 PM
Rumor is that Dennis Varni will have his new streamliner at the lakes this weekend. Don't know if it's a pre inspection or if he is planning to run it. The body  is from the Vesco mold like the 444 car. You can bet it will be a nice hotrod.

Kent is this the body that was loaded on to the trailer a few years ago when I was at your bodywork plant?

If so it looked awesome.

John

PS. Kent are you going to make El Mo?

JD you win, Chute didn't open and went out the back door. Only a short way though. The run was a 140 speed. Dennis made 2 more runs, the chute opened on this run the 3rd run it didn't open and he got on the brakes real hard. The turn out was a little fast and he spun 180 degs. and rolled backwards about 100 feet. Car stayed flat and didn't hurt anything. The chute doors seem to be the problem. That run was a 157 mph pass. Sure is a beautiful built car, just needs some paint and a couple of other details to finish up. It will go fast with that inline 6. I suggested he add front brakes as well.

Like Glen said, it is a beautiful piece of work. Top Notch all the way from every weld to every bolt. The motor is spectacular.
Talking with Dennis afterward, he was very please with all the work and results of getting out there. IMO, 909 is gonna be a fierce competitor in 2010.
Cheers to Dennis and everyone associated with this project.

I see that as a totally different subject which should be separated into its own thread rather than hijacking this one.

Slobbering kept me from using my camera very much. Here is the only image that I have of the 'liner.

He also joined, as a Jr. Member, the Seth Hammond Trailer Club.

Did you ever notice that these primo trailers are never single axle?

The sense of adventure has disappeared.  Back to the '50's for excitement.

Wow, I can't believe that 'liner managed to go around on itself.  I hope they get the 'chute issues sorted.
