Title: SCTA approved flywheel hoop ?
Post by: Jeff Brock on July 26, 2009, 10:00:44 AM
sharing the "final strokes" of my 320 Buick build with Mr. Fox in an email last night , I noted that I used a Ansen , cast steel bell .
He noted it's NOT SCTA approved .

 ... I read that a"SCTA 1/4" thick flywheel shield providing 360* coverage" .
I can fab a hoop to go around this Ansen .
Can / will it be approved "on site" / at tech inspection time ?
I'm thinking 6" wide?

an open to the rear "Band" will not pass--- you will have to "close it" to the tranny so that the schrapnel can't get out.

Can't get out the top. Although I have seen some that do not extend down to the transmission case. As you saw on the picture I sent mine is 6 inches wide in the plane of the flywheel and covers the top half down to the transmission case.
