Thanks for posting.  Great to see the progress.  Lot of brain food for me to digest here on a snowy afternoon.

Sum,

Are you still planning on running the 750 first..?

Sum,

Are you still planning on running the 750 first..?

Yep, because of time restraints if I can even get that done this year but I'd like to run something with more HP.  2nd or 3rd choice would be blown 750 like what Jim and Greg did or a Busa.  2nd or 3rd choice would be if someone wanted to come into the project with the motor and wanted to share driving.  I would entertain that option with the right person, but that might be a reach for someone to take that chance since the car hasn't even turned a wheel at this point.

Sum

Sum,

If I send you the parts to copy (header, plenum etc) would that get you started?..of course it would be for a Busa..

Hey Sum, everything on the busa will fit the 750 except the header spacing.

BTW, Linda said I have a package from you, when I get back to town I'll give you a call.  Turbo 750 is 2 club material...  :-o  :-D

The package isn't quite Christmas all over again  8-), but it is what we talked about for use with the TIG.  I hope my car is 2 club capable at some point, but I'm keeping my initial expectations lower than that.  There is a lot of design work on the car that has no real previous tests on any other car as far as I can tell, so there might be some teething problems and changes after it finally runs.

Thanks for the encouragement though from you and everyone else.  I appreciate it,

Sum

Looking good Sum, what kind of sheet metal are you covering it with, aluminum or steel?

Thanks Harv, but I only get ideas where others have gone before me and maybe changed them a little.

For the body I'm using .050 3003 Aluminum and so far it seems to be a good choice, but I don't have anything to compare it to since this is my first effort with working with aluminum.  I did do the body work on my truck, so I have some experience with 20 gauge cold rolled steel, but that was my first experience really doing body work also and I didn't have to start from scratch there.  When I went east in December I also picked up a couple sheets of .063 3003 aluminum just in case I needed something heavier someplace.

Sum, are you shooting for this years SW?

Everything looks great.

Curious to see how you will approach the air inlet for the motor.

ALSO

After your first run if you decide that driving that fast is not your cup of tea, I will be happy to suit up and take it for a spin with the peddle mashed for ya……

LOL

Hi Sum, I was wondering if you have been annealing the aluminum panels before they are formed?  Are you free forming some of the bigger panels? On the top piece, did you use a "hammerform pattern" or free form? Would it be possible for you to capture "sum" of your techniques with the camera? Hey, I know you are busier than a 1 armed paper hanger with all the projects going on so if this these questions require to much time to answer, I DO Understand. Take Care, Mike R.

Heck I was shooting for SW last year  and I'm afraid to make any predictions yet.  Let's see how far I am in May.

I have not annealed any of the aluminum to this point.  The 3003 is pretty soft.  Now for some of the more complicated areas I might have to if they get work hardened.  Every thing has been free formed to fit the body mounts that form like a wire form.  The body mounts and how I formed the aluminum is on the site and if you can't find the pages let me know, but here is the index page....

........... most of what you are asking about is from page 124 on, but if you can't find what you want there get back to me.

Hope to see you at El Mirage maybe next November again,

Sum

Very Nice, lovely fabrication especially on the panel work but you may need a few more skin pins by the time they are done.

Good, maybe he can tow Slim and his canoe off the salt it he looses his oar, or vice-versa if there's no wind.

Can't wait to see Sum and all those from our roadside welcoming committee last year.

I didn't think I'd ever be as excited to get on the salt as I was that first time... but appearantly I was wrong as I think I'm getting a little giddy again. One of the hundred things that will stay with me forever on that maiden trip, is my first ride thru there (from SLC to Wendover) with Sum in his truck.

Sumner, your build is still just awesome and so much cool stuff, thanks for documenting it the way you have.
If you were to run your liner, who would keep all the duct tape on Sparky's ride while he's pulling off the line?

And with Fred's mention of a new lady; is this not the same young lady (Kim I think it was?), that I met at WOS last year (she was all sweetheart and I can't imagine you letting her go)?

Can't wait to see you as much as anyone my friend... and look forward to seeing how you and I make out at the auction this year ;-)
