It's time to start planning your visit to Portland, Oregon, for the Northwest Reunion that Freud puts on for us each year. This coming February the gala celebration will be the 21st of February. Freud will sooner or later fill in the details -- like the name of the motel where it'll take place and all that stuff. (Dr. F, this is your chance!)

I made our plane reservations today. We'll arrive Thursday evening and fly out Monday mid-day, giving us enough time for not only the bench racing and other stuff - but also a visit with a chum of Nancy's (from her high school days).

As I remember - the seating at the Reunion is limited - so make your plans and reserve your spot at the food trough soon so you don't miss out. We'll see you there.

I see you're planing on making an announcement about the 2009 Reunion -- tomorrow. I thought I'd let you see that I've already got a topic started about it -- so you might just add to this one.

Back to my post from a week or so ago -- the goofy airline ticketing process darned near got me. I made the reservations on "travelation.com" -- and get a call from them a day later telling me that I couldn't have the tickets I had bought. It seems that American Airlines and Frontier Airlines don't have a mutual ticketing arrangement (or something) so the flight upon which I clicked "yes" wasn't really available after all. So I went looking around - and found better times at a lower cost (by using Orbitz.com).

Then there's the goofy "select the seats you want" option when buying tickets. I went through all four flights (Mqt - Minneapolis - Portland and back) and selected available seats. The confirmation came back moments later -- telling me that the seats I had clicked weren't available after all (even though the little simulator said they were), and therefore their computer chose for us. Their choices? Well, the good thing is that at least we're riding in the same airplane. That's about it, though. No big deal -- I'll ask for different seats when we get to the airport and that'll be that.

We look forward to the Reunion. It's only two months away!

The 8th Annual B'ville NW Banquet will be held FEBRUARY 21, 2009

Location

Shilo Inn Portland Airport

The cost for this years event is $48.00 per person. This includes a mandatory 18% gratuity imposed by the caterer.
After February 8th the cost goes up to $55.00.
There will be a registration limit of 150.

REGISTRATION CUT OFF DATE is FEB 15th. It will be by pre-registration only.
NO at the door registration.
A flower and cash drawings for the ladies attending.

If you make a reservation before Jan 6th, I'll assure you that I can guarantee the reduced rate after you get there.

Refund policy.

Up to Feb 5th all but $5 will be refunded. I must have the written request in my hands by February 5th.

After February 10th, no refunding.

It should probably be in the events section but since I paid my traffic fine at the massage parlor I seem to have made entries at the improper place in the past.

I had a call from Shilo Inn in Portland. Two crusty old buggars wanted to book rooms for the banquet. They were also getting noisy in the bar.

The one called Jack said, ""At least I don't have Franklin's ego, which must be at least this big."

Wouldn't you know it, trouble has started already. We may have to relocate but there's still plenty of time.

Some people have had a problem attempting to book rooms at the Shilo Inn. I just talked to them and they promise to have the problem resolved by this afternoon.

I will post a note as soon as that is accomplished.

I assure you, there is no lack of rooms. Please be patient.

I just spoke to the Shilo Inn. The rooms have been reserved and they suggested that you contact them anytime after NOON Friday, Jan 9.

If you think the SCTA rule book has holes in it, try dealing with a motel.

Oh yes....I think that our experiences in Wendover may give you an idea.

YEP, the rooms can be reserved at either the National Number or the Portland Shilo Inn.

I just spoke to them and I know they are in the computer.

My suggestion is to book thru the Portland site. 503-252-7500

DRF, I made our reservations this afternoon -- about 4PM Eastern time. No problems, the lady knew what I was talking about and even said (without me having to ask) that I'll get the group rate, and so on.

We arrive late Thursday evening and fly out Monday morning about 9. If you're there Thursday (the 19th) -- we're on Northworst Airlines flight 597, due in a couple of minutes before 11PM. We'll ride the airport shuttle to the Shilo (unless you want to meet us at PDX) -- have a drink waiting for Nancy when we get there, okay?

Check the post on the home page, EXCEPT there are several corrections.

NUMBER 1 the date is FEBRUARY 21, 2009.

Not that it rally matters, this is the 8TH Reunion.

I am still working on activities and as soon as I have other suggestions I will post them.

Come on Fellows, send in those reservations. I hate for it to be last minute work and so do the caterers.

I think a giant breakfast and day long party at Freuds house for everyone the morning before the NWR would be really great.

BTW Freud, I like my eggs runny and my bacon crispy.

Hey Hotnutz, He is in northern Washington and the party is in southern Oregon and you want to be fed party all day drive to Portland and party again. That should be a blast, besides he's a lousy cook and drinks only Hi $$$$ wine. :cheers:
