Charlie goes 250 on his first run.
-
Come on Charlie...260+ :-D
-
Here's some more stuff from Saturday. First of all, decent weather. Sunny, low 80's, breeze from the start to the finish (tailwind), lotsa bikes and some cars -- and a truck or two.
Charlie Anstaett did go 250 on his first run. Better still -- a rod in the shifter dropped off (pin came out of the connector) so he was gear-challenged at the end of the run. Let
s see if I can get a photo on here:
Bill Warner ran 230 + naked on his turbo 'Busa -- again, first run of his day. These nakjed bike riders are going faster every event:

Mark DeLuca showing off his haberdashery efforts:

(By the way, I did try to turn this one right side up on photobucket. Sorry, Mark -- and sorry to everyone that's seeing it sideways).
Another of Clem Roberts' sons built this diesel pickup. We haven't seen it run yet, but it's in line right now (following the lunch break):

Final two shots for now: Joe Ledford's Bonneville 2 Club roadster, and Bob Gribble's Merkur on its' first time back at Maxton after a few years of hiatus.

Speeds have been fine for such a hot day, and the only time the emergency whistle was blown was for a smoky engine incident down on the shut down. No big hu-huu, and we're racing. I'll be bck with more later.

COME ON 260MPH 8-)!!!!! Awesome Job Charlie !

It's a little before 5 PM and we're holding for those thunderstorms ovewr there to quit. In the meantime -- Don Biglow in the Dauernheim (did I spell that right?)Biglow AA/GL made a 236+ pass - becoming the fastest car ever here at Maxton. There were a bunch of smiley faces in that crew! I'll post a photo of the car later -- but with the rain on the way I want to hold off on doing too much with the laptop out in this weather.
Other stuff -- Rich Yancy ran a 240 on the #8 Bud bike, Scott Horner rode Bill Warner's naked turbo 'Busa into his third naked 2 Club (first person to get in three naked clubs), and Todd Dross rode Debbie's nitrous bike on a "check out" run -- went 207. Let's see -- Dennis Lindberg in his old Tempest went 213 -- and Ithink I'll click post and quit for now. Joe Timney just announced they're going to start running again in a couple of minutes/I just saw a big-ass flash of lightning on the horizon. Take your pick - I'm going to duck for cover. Maybe Joe knows the weather is going away from us. . .
Later --

Way to go, Todd.
Deb shares well with you.

Jody/Trillium -- we missed you at the meet -- hope all's well and you're just showing some Canadian wisdom in staying home for this hot-weather meet.
Okay, some more photos. First, here's a guy showing off his outfit -- how the well-dressed racer should appear:

Trillium: I didn't ask his age, but there's a guy from your country here and he's on a BMW, so yep, he made it here.
There'll be more racing tomorrow, andhere's today's last photo:

In case the description didn't make it along with the photo, this is the beginning of the picnic tonight, with Donna and Tonya taking in the $5 cost ofdinner from one and all. The picnic is a benefit for the East Coast Ladies Aux. Eat hearty, folks, and donate what you can to the cause.
Good night, all.

Hey guys! Quick check in here then I'm gonna crash... ooops, I mean go to sleep (bad choice of words! hehehe)
Being the girl that I am I decided a week ago to throw the fairings back on the bike and see what my build would do faired.
(I do have to say I nearly cried and I did bitch out the fairings several times & broke two pins doing it! It just broke my
heart cause I love my bike naked!)
With us going to Bonnie in Aug I thought Todd should get a run or two again over two so I made the decision to put him
on the bike first. Well that & the fact that the humidity just doesn't do me any favors and the thought of putting on full
leathers to wait in line for 2 hours to run.. ummm yeah, hey Todd, you run first!
It was a lot of work keeping the pressure/temp down on the nitrous (we opted to not put a purge inline) & CO2 but I'm getting
a lot of value out of being the crew chief this time. I'm happy to report that Todd ran a smokin 207(.2?) mph. This was
his first run on the bike since it was bone stock and he hadn't been over 200 since 2003. This is also just a hair under
his personal best speed of 207.55 done in 2002 on the Brooks Turbo Busa. I'm very proud of him! He's going to do
some more runs tomorrow and I'm actually thinking of not even running this meet. I'm honesty enjoying watching him
run well on my build as much as if I were doing it myself.
Other updates I don't think I've seen:
Sal of Ace Performance snagging a 750 record at 183 mph!! I think it's in the P/P-750 class but I'm not positive. I believe
most of the 750's I've seen here have been tapping out at about 177 so that's a good topper right there!
Steve Knecum ran a 220mph naked!
That's it for now! More good news tomorrow I hope!
Deb
-
One more update, Chad Millholand hopped on DaveO's motor bike and ran at 218!!!!
DaveO's too busy this meet to ride it himself with all of us racers out here that need him! 8)

Sunday morning -- 8.30AM -- Bill Warner, on the fourth ride on a turbo 'Busa in his riding career, ran a 240.51952 mph. That's a NAKED 240.51952, folks. Damn fast for a Sunday morning. Here's Bill and his bike:

This lad gets his photo on the Forum because he not only drove his dad's truck to a record -- but because he goes to Michigan Tech, in Hoton, the school from which I graduated all those many years ago.

Great Job Slim Wish I was there .
-
I just spoke to Bill.
He was as low key as ever!
He's headed home to look at the numbers and then figure out how he's going to go faster next meet!
There's little doubt that someone will run 250 naked this year.
Congrats to Bill and the Wild bro team on a record setting weekend.
-
Congrats to everyone sounds like you guys had a great weekend!!
Congrats to my friend Randy Smith (Rchop) who made 4 passes this weekend and set 4 records in the following classes APS-PF @ 127 mph, APS-PG @ 125 mph, A-PF @ 117 mph and A-PG @ 115 mph with his home built custom 750 airhead BMW. Good job Randy! 4 records in one weekend is not to bad if you ask me!!

Chad ran a couple of 221's on DaveO's bike today!
Dean upped his best to 210 naked. (I guess upping a/his record but I forgot to ask! We were just excited about the 210! LOL)
Todd ran a 204 & 2 205's today on my bike faired. We were just about to change our progressive ramp up & go back for more
but they shut the staging lanes. Oh well, next time! He got 4 runs over 200 & we're going home with a running bike! Life is good!
I'm sure there's more but I'm fried!

A great weekend for all it sounds like...I wish a paved venue was closer.. :-D
Congrats to all!

Slim, In all the excitement I did not have anyone taking any pics of my car. (other than Friday when we unloaded for tech) would you happen to have any of my #806 car?
What a blast,,, even though it was 112 degrees inside my black car, it was worth every once of effort put in by everyone who helped me get here.
Just to get my tech sticker granting me permission to run right out of the trialer made me feel proud, the first run I was a but nevrvous after the "speed limit for rookies talk" but getting my first run over was great,,,, The second run was so much smoother. I am a big boy, but damn can Al tighent them belts,, ,,He was great and realy kept me calm at the line,,,
Thanks to Al and the entire starting line team... I do appreciate you all.

With what Bill did with the V-Max to run over 200 mph and NAKED I cannot think of a more deserving, hard working builder, tuner and owner. Bill I give you a serious applaud and am glad to have met you.
Congrats and make sure you enjoy this time as it is very special and to have the respect of your fellow racers means the most!
Jason and I are amazed at your success in such a short time, you have a bright and insane future at the "sport" we call Land Speed Racing!
J

Randy, glad to finally meet you, thanks for stopping by and saying hello.
Congrats on the records,, man you looked smooth and fast....

i think we need to get a couple of t-shirts with bulls-eyes on the back and hand them out to the top speed of the year faired and naked.
I missed giving props to Scott Horner on his entry to the Maxton 2 club naked. that makes 3 two clubs for Horner Naked each time.
Congrats to Scott and Bill two of the real nice guys in LSR!
-
Thank you Joe&Donna,Keith&Tonya, volunteer workers, and fellow competitors for a wonderful (warm) weekend @ Maxton. A failed fuel pump delayed our first run Saturday (while warming up in line), but after a quick trip to AutoZone our two rookie drivers combined for six runs and 2 C licenses while trying to go faster with our B'ville (and only) gear (2.75) and a big drop into 3rd (T350). Other than the fuel pump ( and a speeding ticket for me from Keith<sorry>), the 906 modified roadster ran flawlessly. Mucho thanks to my good friend and data engineer Tim Turner who helped me "final thrash" the car and relieved me of data duties during the weekend. Thanks to all for compliments on and interest in the car. vic
-
Charles, how fast did you go?
-
Fred,
My first run was 103.?? mph... I was going to fast to soon in second so as not to get in trouble I backed out in high gear and lost all my RPM's and coasted thru the traps.
The second run was better, I shifted into 3rd (high gear) and just held my RPM's at 5,000 then as I saw the traps, I nudged up to just over 5100rpms and went thru with a 126.98 and got my D license and the record.
Did not make any runs on Sunday.
-
My Son and I had a great time also as first time participants. Our 1986 Monte Carlo exceeded our expectations with me setting a baseline run of 109.603 and then my Son running 105.878 w/ the A/C on ! Then he went out again and ran 111.259 for our fastest MPH of the weekend.
We felt rather good considering the 305 cid engine is 23 yrs. old, has 162,500 miles on it, has never been touched and is stock from the air filter to the tail pipes including all emissions equipment.
It was also nice to meet a few new people with Charles and Shawn being a couple of them.
As it has been mentioned ALL of the ECTA Volunteers and Staff were great to talk to and were very helpful. We're both looking forward to going out there again next year with a fresh engine, both of us getting our " D " License and then getting a couple of 135 MPH timeslips before we retire this car and build a real LSR Car.
Thanks to everyone we met and spoke with you all really made this weekend more enjoyable.

Great to see everyone again!! Also it was great to meet some people who I hadn't met before. Congrats to everyone who set a record or a personal best this weekend.
I had a blast and look forward to going back again.
Ryan
-
Ditto Ryan, good to see everyone. I would have been happier to go faster, but 1mph is 1mph, and the bike still runs, so I can't complain.
Bill going 246 naked is staggeringly fast, can't say how impressed I am.
See you all in Sept,
Dean
-
Good to see the June results posted. Great job. :-D
-
Racheal and I had a great time; it was nice to meet some new people and see some familiar faces!
She had only had the Busa for 2 weeks when we arrived at Maxton, so we decided to take it easy and play it very safe on the tune/boost. The bike still had the speed limiter on it when we arrived!
Sunday morning Dave O had an ECU (thanks Dave!) for us to get rid of the speed limiter in 6th. Racheal made her first pass on the bike at 193 mph. I followed it up with a 190 mph pass. She then upped it to 194 mph. I changed the sprocket and she dropped to 192. That was all the time we had.
We're definitely looking forward to September!

Get a 2 foot X 4 foot print and get a nice frame, it will look great on your wall :-D :-)
-
If I knew it would blow up nice and clear I would buy a few big prints for my shop and my office.
I may not have went 200mph, but for my first ever Land Speed Race... I felt good getting down the track the first time (some nerves, part brought on by the speed limit talk) It felt even better on my second run, getting the D License and the Record was a nice bonus...
Thanks again for all the kind words and support,,, I am hooked for sure :)

2000 Kawasaki Green ZX-12 Stroker with juice and one fat old dumb guy on it 210.4 mph
First off I just want to thank everyone at Maxton, they are some real nice folks there. They would give you the shirt off their back even if you didn't ask for any help. Second, hanging with the TFA is always the best!!!!!!!!! Thanks Karl (Entropy) for making this trip possible for me, I would not have done it without you. Great to meet all the people I have talked to online but never met in person. Special thanks to Mr. JohnnyCheese for putting together a bullet proof stroker that is my regular street bike. In his words "who says you can't run a stroker 12 on juice and have it live". The bike now has a few Texas Mile visits, about 4k street miles, a ton of Dyno pulls with and without juice, and one special visit to Maxton. It'll be a sad day when I have to retire the old 12 to street duty, but my Bro and I now have a designated LSR project bike. Maybe one last go at Texas and Maxton.
OldKawBoy, Dan, the kids, Mr. Hill It was a pleasure meeting you all. Same withY2k, Jim,TShultz, Ex-skydiver, ZRXDean, Joe (tech guy from Long Island), Ice Man, Bill, Todd, Deb, and those people I never new till that day like Kieth, Jon "SSS" and Al, quirky but real nice!
Special congrats to Karl "Entropy" 203mph and Ryan "Osti33" 200mph. I am sure this is just the beginning of TFA ventures to Maxton.
Thank you much Mr. Hill for giving me the go at the start line!
PS: Yep, that would be my muffler that popped. I usually do not leave the juice on when I shift, but I was in 5th comming up real close to the one mile marker and did not feel I had time to let off. So I assume a little nos was left in the muffler and ignited. Mr. Hill said he saw it from the start line, I did not hear or feel anything and did not realize it until someone said something to me. I jumped off the bike and grabbed Kieth immediately so they could shut the track down. Sorry about that.
Thanks again you all,
Gary Dow

Bill's putting it in the trailer now -- after one last run -- 246.778 mph.
Wow, the naked speeds are skyrocketing. Congrats to Bill and John for breaking the 240.xxx barrier and to Scott Honer for a new naked club entry.

Gary ... It is good that we continue to have a good turn out ... having new (to Maxton) competitors like yourself that know what it is all about makes it easy ... Joe Daly (tech guy from Long Island)

Thank you very much John. This means a lot to me. I look forward to racing side by side with you and Jason.

I missed giving props to Scott Horner on his entry to the Maxton 2 club naked. that makes 3 two clubs for Horner Naked each time.
Congrats to Scott and Bill two of the real nice guys in LSR!
I know what we can put on the front. I can't post the pic here, so I'll email it to you Jason. Feel free to forward it to John :-D

I have to ask -- just what image or video did photobucket remove? Chances are that a few of us would like to see it to decide on our own if it should be edited.

ahhh don't get excited! It was just a smiley! I moved it's location and had an A.D.D. night last night & didn't fix my post! It's all fixed now but I'm sure you'll be disappointed...
Now if we can get the naked boys to share their picture maybe we can all join in the fun! How bout it guys? If it's not TOO bad you can send it to me & I'll stick it on our web site in a folder & add a link (link not picture post) for those that want to see. (or just mail it to me cause I'm that kinda gal & I wanna see!!! :-D )
