Title: Woo Hoo Test Drove Car Today
Post by: Cajun Kid on June 21, 2008, 06:56:18 PM
Made a few shake down passes today. Nothing special but the motor ran good, the ignition problem seems resolved, the brakes work good, it steers good and handles the bumps great.

Going back to shop after supper to paint the numbers on her.

my photo bucket shows the most recent pics, the first pics of the car complete.

Good luck !
I hope you have a great time and a safe time.
I really like to read your posts as your enthusiasm is clearly apparent.
I was hopeing to make it out to maxton this month to run and meet you and several other first timers but not enough time and or the parts I need for the changes I am making to the car. I guess you guys and gals will get to have all the fun.
Good luck and be safe!

Isn't it great watching someone new get started! Everything is so exciting to them!
It really helps remind me how much fun this really is regardless of the amount of
work involved! There's nothing better then watching the face of someone that's
made their first or fastest run!

Less then a week now! See y'all soon!

Charles, I just watched your videos of your car.  Your roadster sounded gooood.  I was curious if you would be going to Bonneville, if so you might look at your muffler angle and ask around if that angle would be ok.  It looks to be slightly pointing down.  Not sure how much pressure comes out of those pipes but it wouldn't hurt to ask.  At one time we had straight pipes on our zoomies and had to change the tips because it caused so much dust at El Mirage.  Good luck with the roadster, and if at speed week drop by and say hi.

Troy,  yeah my headers are at a down and turn away angle,,, they do kinda "sweep the track"  about 4 feet past the car and behind the front doors.  Not bad at all,  not dust enters the car whan still,, and once moving no problem at all.

Troy
I thought it was a Vicky sedan, and it is a good looking car. :?

The point Troy was making is that the rulebook requires that the headers be directed in such a manner as to not cause any damage to the track surface. You want dust? try El Mirage.

DW

BTW - Troy, the car is a tudor sedan not a roadster, hard for a Camero guy to figure out.

Dan, I know that I was just having some fun with Troy. One never wants to dust down the starter or the people on the starting line. Sorta upsets big Jim and Wes. See you in a couple of weeks Dan :-D

You are correct,

The car is not a roadster, it is a    1933 Ford Victoria Hi Boy (no fenders or running boards) Some call it a Tudor Sedan and yes it has 2 doors and yes it is a sedan,  but the Vicky was a bit more sporty and sleek than the plain 2 door sedan, very small diferences but they are there,, look at the back windows and the tail section, that is where you can see the differance.

Damn, I am always saying Roadster with the older cars and then correcting myself.  Although a little late now.     Yeah we dusted a few starters at El Mirage in the late 80's. :-o  Nice car/sedan/victoria.
