Title: Need a 12v Water Pump
Post by: Loose Goose-Terry#1 on May 02, 2008, 02:47:28 AM
:? I need a 12v water pump to supply coolant to two 1500cc engines. I don't know how much flow would be needed to keep the engines cool. I plan to mount the pump in the nose right in front of the water tank and push the water about 7ft through my 1.25 dia frame rail. I'll use the top frame tube to supply one engine and the bottom tube to supply the other engine. The return to the tank will be through the frame tubes on the other side of the frame. Also, how do you keep the inside of the frame tubes from rusting? Do you just blow the tubes out and then fill them with nitrogen gas??

I am open to any and all suggestions :-)

Thanks,

Terry

Terry , I have used a Davies Craig EWP with a motorcycle and a 30 ltr water tank worked great and no problems

Nitrogen won't help because the water carries its own oxygen. The slightest moisture would still rust the tubes. Antifreeze will take care of the rusting.

This is the pump I use on our busa motor.
They also make a 2 outlet pump that might work for your 2 motor setup.

I can not say enough about Meziere pumps.

If you have to run a electric, then Meziere is a very good pump.  Talk to their tech guys and they can help you size one to your application.

I've used a Jabsco "Centri Puppy"... model 18510-Series, for years.

Flows 20 GPM, and I used a rheostat to slow down/speed up pump, to suit my/your own cylinder head temperature preferences.

Fairly reasonable and can be purchased at any marine supply store... just ask for bilge pump section.     :-D  Course not many marinas at Bonni...........
