Title: teck inspection
Post by: racer x on March 24, 2008, 10:02:01 PM
When I show up for teck inspection with my bike . Should I put all my gear on? Or just carry it over for the inspectors to see? Also should my bike have all the fairings fully bolted in place ?Or just one bolt so they can be removed . And should I leave the safty wire off the radiator cap so the inspector can have a look inside? Thanks Todd for all your help Eric

Hi Eric,
Just bring your gear to tech with your bike, no need for us to have you wear it unless we see you're a 110lb person and bringing X-large gear to be inspected, or your helmet doesn't appear to coincide with your noggin size and we require a roll off test. There will be a pre-inspection of gear (and paperwork) this year going ahead of the bike inspections, so you'll most likely have time to carry your gear back to your pits before your bike is inspected (making it easier, less congested and faster on both the techs and the entrants).

Have all your bodywork(and everything about your bike) bolted on and ready to run, if an inspector deems it neceessary to remove he'll ask you to do so. Their  goal is to initially see your bike just as you plan on running it, so any deficiencies can be determined from that point. IE: If you bring it disassembled, we'll have to wait for it to be assembled completey before we can sign off on it anyway(it's not real often that we need components removed for the safety inspection). The coolant change(or the safety wiring of the radiator cap) are a not requirement this year, so feel free to seal it up.

FYI: Those with turbos(especially) will find us "reccomending" that a non-glycol coolant be used, and that the overflow bottle cap has a positive seal on it(neither of these are requirements, but have proven to be a good thing for everyone at the track, especially the rider).

Excellent questions and looking forward to meeting you Eric, you're in for a great time.
Todd

You know, for a new guy -- Eric has the right attitude.  He says "only three weeks of work and I'll be ready" -- a week and a half before the next event.

Yep, Eric, you're in the right group.  Nancy and I look forward to meeting you and renewing our acquaintance with everyone at Maxton.

By the way, I checked with Pine Acres lodge today and they're still sold out.  I thought maybe they'd have had a cancellation or something.  Nope -- so we'll stay at the local crack-whore motel instead.we've been there before...

For those who are new can you remind everyone which hotel is a little on the questionable side?   :-)

Dinner's just about on the table, so I'll make this short and sweet.  We'll be staying at the Clinton Inn, at which some racers have had bad experiences.  But -- we've stayed there a couple of times in the past few years and haven't regretted it at all.  I've heard from others that there are other motels that aren't good -- but without personal experience I won't say anything bad about any of 'em.

Whatever -- we know the Pine Acres is good, and the Clinton isn't as bad as some folks told us.

Thank you for the kind words Jon. I look very much forward to meeting you . Your turbo 250 is a thing of legend around here.

We have stayed at the Clinton several times in the past few years wit NO problems other that they don't have a restaurant serving supper. The breakfast buffet wasn't bad.
Slim how much snow do you still have? Over a foot on the ground here with more predicted for Fri.

As I look out the window here at the office I see some grass sticking through the snow.  At the house -- about two feet still on the ground in the open area between the house and the barn.  We're way behind normal -- 148 instead of 170".  About 20% behind in precipitation amount, too.  Dry year - - -.

Back a few posts -- I took some photos at the tattoo shop yesterday and will post 'em tonight once I'm at the house.  You'll see both Nancy and Michelle, the lady that does the work.  Lots of ink, lots of blondes, lots of skin, lots of smiles.  Damn, the stuff with which I have to put up. . .  Tough job -- glad it's mine!

Todd doesn't mind - now Deb on the other hand might.

Of course Todd hasn't put much thought into his offer.  3 women (friends) in the same room = no sleep, they would be chatting till 3am.
