The short course is 3 miles, the long course is 5 miles. Each has a 132 ft trap at the end but that is a terminal speed only.  The actual speeds are measured over a one mile trap. on the short it is between the 2 and 3 mile. you have a 2 mile build up to the measured mile, the long is the same except the speeds are timed in each of the last 3 miles. You must run over 175 mph in the 2-1/4 entry trap to qualify for the long course. This year there will be a 3rd short  / short course where slower vehicles will be timed from the 1 to 2 mile. Hope this helps. There should be a map of the courses on the SCTA web site. Enjoy your 1st time

Glen didn't I see in the SCTA minutes where they think there is enough room that the short-short course will actually be the length of the normal short course and you will have the option of being timed between the 1 to 2 or the 2 to 3 with a 2 1/4 trap on that course that could qualify you to run on either of the long courses???
