Group,
Had some major database problems. There were some log files, that I did not know existed, these files created about 6 files that had more then 6 gig of data. This created a problem that MYSQL database could not fit any more data into a directory that I had at 6 gig maximum. This created the problem that a few database tables stayed "open" and never close a connection. This explains why the board went down a week ago and again a couple days ago. This also created severe loads on the server, which was running at a snails pace.
Luckily I had a backup of the board from the 4th of April. That is what is installed, so we lost a few days posts over the Easter Weekend.
I have corrected the log file problem, and im writing a few commands for a "Cron" job to backup the database every 2 days. And the backups wont write over each other, they will saved by date file name.
If you find something not working correctly please post it here, so I can keep tabs on issues, and it lets others know if there is a problem also.

Jon,
I lost my hard earned status as a full member and it has tossed me back to Junior status. What a bummer! :?
Also lost a photo that I had plugged in as well.
I can just build it back up again. :-D Hope that I didn't cause the thing to crash.
Surely you have done a good job restoring it as quickly as you have done, but I was going through some signs of withdrawl.

Harold,
Dont worry you are two posts away from the Full member status, you probably got that status over easter weekend and we lost about 3-4 days of posts.
No you didn't crash the board :)
What photo? I should be able to recover it. Just tell me where the photo was, in a post, your avatar???

Glen
I was gonna lay it off on Glen but he is loose.
NO, not that way !
I mean he got booted out of the Hospital.
I hope all the hard work and dedication on Jon's part makes Glen feel even better.
NO, not that way !
I guess we will be hearing more from him and you might as well get accustomed to it.

Carol, Glen's wife, would probably pay for overtime help for Jon if he needed it to get the board back online. Can you imagine Barrett at home and not being able to access the site?
That would be intense !!

THANK YOU Jon!
No more left out feeling and a speed fix available whenever I feel the need. Life is great again :-D
Hope you can now get a chance at a well deserved break.
Your efforts are always very much appreciated here in the North East corner :-)

Thanks Jon........................welcome home Glen!!!!!!!!!

Jon, does this mean we have to re-post our banter and say nice things about Glen again? Once was almost my limit... Glad to see you back Glen, you still have a lot of catching up to do.
I had a couple of extra hours to work on the bike this week since the site was down.
Good work Jon, even if you let the site die every now and then.

Well since we tell him how much we miss the site, let's grease his palm a little.
I know it costs to keep this site alive and I can imagine that he took time off
work to get back on line.
I'm sending my wife's beer money. She will be out of town a day or two and
won't miss it.

Thanks for this excellent forum Jon! I haven't posted much since joining a couple years ago, but have learned alot from all you folks!!
Get a message "an error has occurred" when trying to post photos to "My Gallery" which I created after 4/4. Its gone, and I can't locate the menu tabs to re-build it.

Mile High,
Are you sure you are going to correct place.
http://www.landracing.com/gallery
then under the "@" symbol, you have to mouse over, and then select my galleries.
I just created one with this username, not an admin user, just everyday user, added a new album and uploaded a pic just fine.
I do see all your pictures still there. Those were uploaded and stay there no matter what happens to database.
Jon
If not, PM me your password and ill see if I can duplicate the problem.

Jon,
Please allow me to add my thanks to the long list. Your dedication and hard work have made this the premier LSR website. This is the site that other message boards point to when a LSR question is posted.

Hi Jon,
thanks for fixing the problem.
At first I thought that the anti (engine) smoker community* sent you a MS Virus.....
* = this community was found in LA, after they heard from the Phoenix and his smoke alarm he produced at the salt.....
