It is never easy to say goodbye and it?s especially hard in a time like this. With heavy hearts, we are announcing the permanent closure of World of Speed. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and current public health guidelines, reopening the museum to the public during the next several months was deemed unlikely, so we must close our doors for good. We are forever grateful to our dedicated employees, volunteers, donors, members, visitors and the broader Wilsonville community. You all helped make World of Speed a success during our incredible five-year run.

That's a damn shame!

It was a cool visit, lots of interesting exhibits...
I would go again when in the area... plus there was a nice little brewery across the street...
-
Un-fortunate.
-
Well that's a loss.
The times I was there they had events going on involving school kids and it seemed like it was well ran.
Dang.

Columbia Sportswear's sales and stock have taken a big nosedive due to the virus and they were the cash behind the Museum. I wonder if the Wendover Casino's will close before Speedweek. This virus is the real deal folk's.
Wear your mask's for your Kid's sake if not for the rest of us.

Bob: the official stats last weekend for Multnomah County were: 159 confirmed corona cases, 117 of them at one retirement center/rest home.
-
I read that Oregon had the 4th to the lowest infection rate per capita of the states.
I have lost a family member to this virous and am doing my best to protect others and myself.
When I see people dismissing covid 19 I assume it has not hit close to home for them.

Mike, that doesn't mean sh*t. We are talking Bonneville here and all it takes is one Asystamatic person to pass it along on the salt, the restaurant's, the casino buffet's or the opening meeting at the starting line.
When you consider the average age of drivers and crew I wouldn't be suprised if it isn't over fifty.
As for Oregon, it's only a matter of time with folk's from out of state stopping to eat, buy gas or visit our beaches or park's. I was at Home Depot a week ago and when I got to the front door there was a line of about three hundred people including oldsters and toddlers waiting to be let in the door five or so at a time whenever the guard got the message on his radio. Just for the hell of it I counted the people lined up in a sloppy line as if going to a movie. There was a total of three people I counted wearing masks as I walked to the end of the line, and that included Me.

Thanks Bob Drury! We needed that dose of reality.
Coronavirus, as of Thu 05/14/2020 in Orange County, CA. Confirmed cases: 3968. On May 7 the count was 3065. It doesn't look like COVID19 is going away any time soon https://occovid19.ochealthinfo.com/coronavirus-in-oc
They have opened the beaches in Orange County, CA. So I'd expect a lot more cases of COVID19 2 weeks from now.

On the national news yesterday they estimated that a 100,000 small business had closed permanently because of the virus.
-
Viewing the news from the US from the otherside of the pond....
I asked me the last days....
how many from our speed friends are currently in trouble....lost their job, lost maybe their small business....
a lot of our speed friends running their needs for speed on a shoestring budget...
with this in mind - how many can afford it this year to go to speed meets.....how many can allowed himself to go to the speed meets, because, maybe at first they have to see that they be back in business and a proper income....
hope all our speed friends will survive this time also from the financial view (and, of course from the health view).....and can be back at the speed venue now or in the near future....
Currently we have to see that we stay fine and well....
I wish you all this....stay on the safe side

This $hit isn't going anywhere, it's still going to be here tomorrow. All they are trying to do is lower the infection rate to a manageable level until such time somebody can come up a cure or protection from it. When you're dead, you're dead! :dhorse: It might not kill you but you might kill others & there are certainly plenty of people that don't seem to give a flying fish about anybody else.
See you on the salt next year, hopefully! cromag

John, they must have forgot their tape measures...

And 100% avoidable..Didn't someone suggest a plan that would have prevented this ? :-D

J.C. Penney, 118-Year-Old Department Store, Files for Bankruptcy. The chain?s move came after J. Crew and the Neiman Marcus Group filed, and represented the biggest casualty amid retail closures tied to the coronavirus pandemic. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/15/business/jc-penney-bankruptcy-coronavirus.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage.
So this is what "making America great again" means? That's one Red Hat I wouldn't want to wear.

shame the border was not secured against such things...100% avoidable.

When the border was secured, the media screamed "RACISM".

Did they really? Or, is that's what you have been told?

Let's see. Maybe you need to ask the Communist Chinese Government, just don't look for the truth in the answer. The world better wake up, it might be too late.

I agree, it might be too late to crawl back out of the Chinese hole that we have allowed our selves as consumers to fall into.

Obviously The Donald didn't put a embargo on Chinese Virus import's. Big Money drives politics which is driven by Big Stockholders and their Big Politicians whom don't seem to have one iota of Morality or one "give a sh*t" about the bottom 99%.
May God help Us because none of the above will... and if You think for one second the economy is going to quickly pick up steam, I would like some of your drugs. These are the same folks who sent all of our manufacturing overseas.
Every cent given out by the Fed's is a dollar more added to the National Debt.
Makes Me want to puke every time I think about it.
Bob Drury (whom is currently thinking about it)

Must be cocoa famine.

Here are some kittens....I like kittens.
-
Here you go..Sip slowly and tell me how many cases of the Chinese virus we would have in America had the borders been secured after January 20 2017. 100% avoidable. Game, set, match.
-
sigh........... can't escape this political partisan bullsh*t anywhere anymore.

I agree...The RIGHT vs. The wrong :clap :clap
-
I'd say that everyone who has fallen for this "divide and conquer" crap is on the wrong side.
drink whatever color kool-aid that you want, but remember........
the truth always lies somewhere in the middle.

So when is the auction?? My Phizer stock is headed to the moon right along with my Stryker holdings.

Y'all are probably gonna make Slim upset....
We will all agree to disagree on our politics but not our racing

Well Jerry it seems to me that no matter who is leading the country about half think you are stupid if you support what leadership is doing and about half think you are stupid if you oppose what what leadership is doing.
I think that's why they hold elections...
I just wish it was illegal to campaign for a year... already tired of ads and they barely started
