I would like to get some opinions on what tuning software/tuner/ecu flash do people prefer or have had good luck with? I am building a 2007 Yamaha R1 for 1000cc M-G and possibly M-F class. Fuel injrcted bike with Full port/polished head by EDR Performance along with emissions delete and a few other goodies. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

That's probably a good question on one of the R1 forums... I only say that because I know a lot of folks running BMW, Honda and Suzuki but not too many R1's.
There are several aftermarket ECUs out there that would work well and might be easier to use than the hacking software.
We ran a power commander 3 (the latest when I built the 1000) that worked fairly well.
The records are actually lower in Special Construction, but that will require making some major changes.
I would probably run in MF, the best chance of adding what ever power you need with N20 as long as you keep it rich when on the button...

Thanks Stainless. I do have a few ways forward as far as tuning goes but just thought i would get some more insight This build is well underway so any major mods at this point would be working backwards. I did notice Guthrie owns 1000cc MF and AF Records on a Yamaha so curious if he may chime in.?? This will be my first year out and I am on track to make August so I will stay the course for MG and possibly MF....You and I chatted quite a bit last August while I was wrenching for Wally and his Sidecar. I do remember you telling me it will run like a bat out of hell lean...until it doesn't! lol8

EDR is good at doing what you need. They have a dyno.

John?... IIFC... I think that is Jason McVicar on those fuel records... yea Scott's name is on it, but then again his name is on a lot of other peoples records. You might find Jason by checking members here... He's a good guy.

Yep John. I figured it might have been someone like Jason on those records. Thanks for the heads up

Jason is Jasontmc on this site, you can send him a PM or Email through this site.

2 Wheel Dynoworks in Washington does good stuff. And you should get a wideband set-up to monitor air/fuel when you are there, I use a Daytona Sensors on my NA bike. And then you might consider a Power Commander 5 so you can add/subtract fuel at the salt .

Thanks fireman....I decided to send my ECU off to Eric at EDR for the flash and then I will be going with rapidbike tuning software. Has wideband and an autotune feature as well as all of the capabilities of power commander with some extra stuff
