Outstanding a true Land Speed Hero exactly the sounds i heard watching Al run way back in the late 80's great memory's Thanks for posting. Max volume almost blew out the speakers on the desk top. :laugh:

We only had one incident in the mid 90's with a blown front tire that did some front end damage & lost steering but ol Betsy still went straight.
This was a return run on an FIA record with Al slipping the clutch in 2nd gear because the salt was so wet down that end. Those were some good days back then.

I was watching from about the 2 mile when Al made his last run. I'll never forget the sound of that nitro hemi laboring for revs and Al taking what always seemed like for ever changing gears. Listening to a nearby radio as they announced his mile speeds, the hair on the back of my neck stood up when I heard "and the exit speed is 430 mph" Legend stuff.
