The board is kind of dead, so I thought I'd try to stimulate some chatter by asking folks to talk about what they are coming out to play with. Have you made upgrades to your machines, going for new records, bringing something new? Share!
We are bringing our /BRMR to run in "G" Gas & Fuel, to try to improve on our records from 2017. We're getting 435 HP from our blown Hayabusa this year. We might also try to go for raising Rodger Cook's old G/FRMR record (this car used to belong to him, and sadly he passed away in 2016) at one of the later events (WoS or WF).
We are also bringing out the old "Team Fat Azz" Lakester that used to belong to Karl Gunter. This is a really nice stretched-belly-tank design Lakester that is front-wheel driven so it should be a blast to run! It doesn't need a push to get going, and is easy to drive. It will run in B/GL, and has no chance of beating the record, but we are using it as a "test mule" to see what the chassis and body design are capable of, to perhaps run in a smaller engine class in the future. It now has 452 WHP and we are looking to run in the 230 mph range.
OK, your turn!!

OK I will join in. Were returning again this year with our XFBGRMR My son and I are now refreshing up the Ford flathead engine which we ran last year. Our hopes are to of course add a bit more to the record. Last year we learned a bit more about which way to not go with the cam. Still need to go over everything else on the car but theres still time left. Plans are to test in July up north in Maine to see if the improvements help before we head west to the great salt dyno.

Well lets see, made a tranny change for better gearing at shifts, new rear coilovers, changed out bad head gasket and fixed some oil leaks,a little dyno time was spent this off season also.Out of the box we will make a couple easy runs to shake things down and if all is good we will drop the hammer(its a small one).We hope to get in the 220s and that would be huge for us.Then my Pop wants to put my son in the car for some license passes!!
-
Loads currently happening at the 7707 raceshop. Lots of chassis updates, motor updates etc etc. New chassis paint, polished bits and pieces. It’s gonna look pretty and it will certainly make some noise. Fingers crossed it goes as fast as it looks...lol. Would love to post pictures but the files are way to big to load on here. ☹️ All in HD.

Nothin' Special, just been thrashing to get this LS powered MMP built since last October. I plan to have it running in June, it should make it. Then take care of the details from there. Just like Charlie Bucket, we;ll just be happy to be there! :-D
-
We'll be back in the Datsun pickup again. Added dry sump oiling, distributorless ignition, EFI to replace the Weber carbs. We're hoping to be a little more competitive this year??? Its fun either way.
-
bigger carbs with sexy v-stacks
improved aero
have a hotter cam, too lazy to install right now, maybe during summer hiatus
-
We are putting in a 302 GMC and switching back to XO Street Roadster
Just took a look at the salt camera and the salt looks not wet,, no standing water, but snow in the mountains.
Mayor of Wendover said that salt should be as good and maybe better than lasts years salt.
And for my 18 Calendar Customers,,,, news forthcoming

This will be my rookie year as a racer and I will be bringing a M-PBG Sportster in the 1650 class.
-
we are bringing Scrap Iron II back with new motor and on E85. Running on our own record for XF/BFALT with turbocharged flathead Ford power.
-
We'll be back with the lakester (RMR). the fire damage is repaired, the car was dyno'd last week and we are feeling good. Just need to replace the damaged panels and we are ready to go. There, now i've jinxed it :?
Hey Peter, do you ever get out east? stop by for a coffee.
ted

I'll make a point of doing that a little later on Ted. I haven't been out that way for a while.
Thanks for the invitation.

We will be returning with the Big Red Truck. This will be the 20th year for the truck and most likely the swan song. AA/PP FTW! I hope we don't need to do the pontoon refit.
-
Will be bringing the #639 Xerox Ducati 1350 P-P to be ridden by a celebrity pro jockey named Jon or something like that.
-

This year, I'm bringing
hunger for the Mexican cafe, a bunch of crew, and a driver that always have a good time, extra carburetors, and parts, and a hope to finally put a old vintage oval car with a flathead into the 150 range. might be a new transmission first but why rush. :-D
-
7490b will be back, M-F 750 Ducati.
-
We will be running for the first time (on the salt) with Big Red Too #1150 B/FALT a 1975 Chevrolet Laguna S3 Nascar tribute.
Looking forward to it!

Plan to leave Wendover Friday August 16th (or possibly August 15th). If you plan on flying to arrive SLC Thursday Aug 8th I may be able to give you a ride to Wendover.

Great group right there! Welcome to the madness!!
I see you are a FTWco rider. You should get Jeff to come out. I know he will dig it!

We left the house about two hours ago. Tonight Jamestown, ND, Tuesday night Wendover. I've got a bunch of t-shirts for this year's event and some oldies, too - gotta get rid of the extras, okay?
I'll be riding Bike 639 but don't know if I'll keep the shirts there or in my truck at the radio trailer. I won't be too blatant about selling them on the radio/salt - I don't care to run afoul of SCTA/BNI rules, so please bear with me.
See you on the salt!
PS I'm bringing a bit of a surprise with me this year. You'll see.
-
Safe travels Jon!
See ya in a week, hopefully pick up a shirt out at the Salt Talks.
-Pz
-
We made it to Jamestown, ND tonight. Billings MT tomorrow!!
We aren't having Salt Talks this year so you'll have to find me - which won't be hard.
-
Jon, no Salt Talks.... ?? OK, you didn't get enough support this year to buy burgers n drinks... but we should have a BYOB event Sunday....as usual... maybe something informal at the Bend....
Bring the shirts...
If you build it they will come
See ya on the salt

Hi Fixgeer, SSS, everybody else...
Bike is ahead of meself and already waiting in a bonded warehouse in Salt Lake City for me to collect it...

I'm crossing the pond on the 8th, see you all on the 9th...
Fixgeer/Patrick, is your dad coming?
Still no crew with me, I hope I can find help soon on the Salt Flats!!!
Ciao for now,
Patrick

Tempting, Stainless, but without Nancy it's more than I can do along with my announcing stuff on Sunday. I'm willing to go along with everything - just don't want to promise something more than I can deliver.
We've left Jamestown, ND, heading for Billings tonight. Looks like nasty weather ahead - might have to use the wipers.
-
No Nancy... We...? got a mouse in your pocket?
Think an informal meeting at the bend. Sunday 600-700 PM start time, BYOB, Shirts for sale, Easy Peasy.. totally unorganized... I'll let you start the Thread if you agree... you should be able to get there
-
Nancy had to stay home for her new job. We'd kinda expected this for months - and sure enough, there you have it. I'm not alone, though -- I've got Jackie with me. She's a friend.
As for Salt Talks -- hey, sure, I know I can get there and I'd love to continue the tradition. I know I can get Ron to cover for me so I can leave a bit early. I've got 80 or so of the new shirts and a batch of old ones to sell as inexpensive shop rags.
See you on the salt.

Billings MT tomorrow!!
Small world, we're in Billings as well at the moment. Mid road trip, about 1500 miles in, but will be on the salt Sunday for racing. Just got small matter of Yellowstone and Missoula rodeo before we get there.
-
Come say hi. The 7707 Landspeed team will be there.
-
Billings now, but today we'll drive to Red Lodge and up to the Beartooth Pass on the way to Yellowstone. SLc tonight, salt tomorrow noon-ish.

I live in Salt Lake City and sent you a PM. Happy to help if I can.
I could pick you up at the airport on Thursday, give you a soft bed to crash Thursday night, go with you to get your bike with my Truck on Thurs or Fri, drive you and the bike to the salt flats on Fri. I would watch and or help on Saturday but then I head back to Salt Lake City. If you like, we could also assemble your bike in my garage. I do have a bike lift and tools. Hey, just trying to help and I PM'd you my contact info. I am best reached at email phauer50@gmail.com
We could also grill up some steaks, drink some beer and ride a few of my bikes up some gorgeous canyons behind my place!
Waiting to go up canyon are:
CRF1000 Africa Twin
FJR1300
XR650L Push button tractor
XR650R Kick start wild child

The bike is here for me, and this morning I went through my safety garb. BAD NEWS!
I spent an hour or two cleaning the zippers and digging out the gloves I like best and packing the car before leaving home. Here I am in Wendover and I guess my helmet stayed home. SHOOT! Anybody got a L/XL I can use a few times?
D A M N!
-
Ya know there is lots of time for Nancy to send the helmet out.
