Hi all, I wonder if someone would have a photo and some info on the Benham & Carr C/BGMS car that set the 240.754mph record @ Elmo, back in '99.
Thanks!

I think the car still lives with Keith Turk in AL.

Here's a photo of it from the 2000 SpeedWeek Program.
The car is a Berkeley.

And what the car looked like with Keith Turk

Very cool, thank you for the quick replies, guys. Leave it up to Benham to pick a diminutive Berkeley Roadster to achieve his goals!

Looks like Benham's Opel-nosed Berkeley was still running, as of a few years ago - now being called "Spirit of the Lakes:"

'99 was my first year in my car. This photo is from the July meet that year, look over in the 2 line. Also, Bob Higbee and a younger Jim Jensen.

Very cool photo! Benham & Carr won the El Mirage season championship in '99.

I stand corrected. The car was sold to a gentleman whose name I don't recall. "Spirit of the Lakes" is the last known name.

Car belongs to John Staiger aka Stec Motorsports out of Saint Clair MI. The car runs with an IRL motor in it now... or at least 'ran'. Haven't seen them out in a while.

As it is now??
-
Yep, as last seen. Nice cut away.

I still own the "C" motor that set the 240 record at Elmo in '99.

I think Gary Hensley from Michigan was the last driver?
