:-D What the heck is going on that it's been pretty frickin' quiet here on the Forum? Unh, is everyone so busy building that only a few can find the time to post? Is everyone shell-shocked by (enter your choice of politics - weather - the kids - your girlfriend - etc) and you don't have the urge to post? And so on. But you gotta admit that I'm right, so get off your duff and show us, tell us, about the ride you've got that you won't be showing us on the salt. Hot Rod, streeeeet-only car, trailer queen, daily driver, yaddo and so on.
We know what you have with you on the salt, be it race vehicle or your support transporter-cum-school bus. But let's see what you're hiding back at the house. No, I don't think we'll wanna see your Subaru grocery-getter just 'cause it's got Dubs and spinners, okay?

Oh heck Mike..It was easy. First I placed the engine/trans. where I wanted them on the chassis table and then I whittled mounts from slabs of 7075 on the milling machine....
-
That's funny. Can't you af"ford" the real deal?. :-D
-
Reminds me of the Marx Bros..." Say you come to a creek on your horse and you want to ford it'...."If I have a horse..what do I want with a Ford ' ???

Well you can't Chevy a creek now can you?. :-D :-D :-D :-D

Trust me Mike..If I tripped over a SOHC 427 or a Boss 429 in a bone yard..It would be in the `32...Or Patti`s Woodie

How boring would life be if we all liked the same stuff?.
There was this guy called Lee that sold cars at Broadway Ford.
I was in the showroom waiting for my buddy when this old lady
comes in and starts complaining to Lee about the new car she
bought.
Lee says "if you can't take a joke, don't drive a Ford". Need I
say more?. My buddies always give me a hard time about my
Fords.
BTW, there are a bunch of idiots here in South Africa with a class
in circuit racing called "Shelby Can Ams". They have Nissan motors in
the cars. I guess they don't have a clue. I think they need to be set straight.

They may not have a clue because most of them may not have been into cars when CAN-AM was real, and it was glorious, but I'll bet they're having a blast. You can't drive an open sports racing car without the result being a smile on your face. :-D :-D :-D

Mike, Peter;
This was the real deal- Can-Am in the early '70s.

The closest I got was slot cars. :-D
-
Mike, Peter;
The MacLaren #64 in that photo was Bob Peckham's car. I was on his crew back in '72 & '73-- the "Golden Age" of Can-Am. No sponsor at all but we finished as high as 6th and never DNF'd.

well this came to a screeching halt.....anyone want to see the `40 Ford banjo I`m turning into a quick change?
-
I do.

This is my third summer of poking around almost every day in a 1917 Buick.
A couple of winters ago I got a little bored and put together an off-road kart, to play in the back forty. Just finished a rollcage for it today. My sons haven't hurt themselves when rolling it over, but I'm tired of patching up steering, fenders, etc.

Neil, that is the old Riverside Raceway track and I know that corner well. Never did get it quite right but came close a couple of times. It goes slightly off camber to the right and if you carry too much speed going in, you find yourself over on what we affectionately called Nofsinger Flats (a fellow racer who rarely got it right). I loved that track in all it's configurations except the NASCAR circuit. Way, way too long for a Formula Vee. Coming off the last turn headed for turn nine, a big, fast right hand sweeper, you could read a book before you ever got there. It was so sad to see Riverside give way to housing development. So much lost history.

Ah, the old/new SCCA Can-Am. SCCA tried to make a pro series out of it but did not take. Looks like a few of them landed overseas. At one time, you could buy a lightly used one for around $10K USD.

Jack, it looks to me like you're having way too much fun. :-D :-D :-D

Toys....well here is mine. It is an Aston Martin Vanquish Volante V12. One of only 6 built to celebrate 60 years of Aston Martin. This is Number 4. I love driving this and use it as my commute car some days. It differs from the normal Aston by way of the spec when it was built and the color and the interior trim. This is the only one i know of in the UK the rest having been sold abroad. The Coupe is my Aston Vanquish V12.
-
Pet wise....these are my Fish. I have an above ground 3000 gallon tank in the garden with a full glass front. These guys and gals will come sit on my hand and feed from my fingers.
-
I would love to see your quick change, I am looking for a rear end now, for a faux '54 Mexican road race 34 Ford Roadster pick up. I plan on building to build this winter. I now have most of the parts.

Sparky too? maybe a secret hand shake is in order

Definitely not as high-zoot as some of my compatriots here, but $500 54 Plymouth on $250 78 El Camino chassis . . .
-
. . . free 48 Mercury pickup spindles traded for engine . . .
-
Stan
Just out of curiosity, what is the difference between 48 Mercury pickup and 48 Ford pickup spindles? Inquiring minds want to know. Whatever it is, you got the better deal. :-D :-D
Ron
-
48 Mercury spindles are ferrin! (I believe they're the same as 41-48 Ford car spindles.)
I traded them to my ex-partner for his 40 Ford knowing (hoping) they didn't fit (square, as opposed to round). I had to get even for the $80,000 he screwed me out of. Well, it made me feel a little bit better.
-
You're calling some of our Northern racing friends Ferriners :? :? :-D
I knew Mercury trucks were Ferrin by being (made?) sold north of the border. I've got three 53-56 F100's. I thought the only difference was the Badge and the tail gate says Mercury.

Let's not get off track here.
I read where the Pilgrims who landed at Plymouth Rock ran into a bunch of natives a year or two later that spoke French. Kinda ruined their story as being pioneers in the area. Or maybe the natives had signed up for internet language lessons. I'm not great on history, but I don't tweet, either.

Stan- what's the hemi intake manifold?
That's the most "cost effective" '54 Plymouth on this planet! I like the frenched headlights- do them yourself?
-
That reminds me of a 54 Dodge 4 door that I had in High School I put 53 Mec headlight rings and frenched them and the taillights slammed it with full length lakes pipes pained 54 Wilys metallic green---my friends called it the Green S-it Shooter---flathead six instead of a hemi though---looked and looked for one I could afford back then--never did
-
"Stan- what's the hemi intake manifold?"
It's a Hot Heads that I ground off the injector(?) bosses(?) and had polished. She want $175 to polish it, I said give me $100 worth.
"That's the most "cost effective" '54 Plymouth on this planet! I like the frenched headlights- do them yourself?"
No body work involved. The trim pieces fit in the stock fender opening. They're off International Travel-All grilles – $1 each at Pick-A-Part.
By the way, the body's channeled 4" over the frame with road racing springs in the back and very slightly cut heavy duty coils in the front.

That's oozing with "high-zoot" Stan, unlike that checkbook $hit!

Yup. :-D :-D :-D

I was gonna say this may be off topic but then i couldn't remember what the topic was, so here goes. What I got goin in the shop. I just in the design stage of a 34 Ford 5 window street car. Chopped (a bunch) and lookin like a 50s B'Ville car. The choice of mill will be a stroker 354 HeMi. Here it comes.....has anybody had any experience with a front mount roots blower hangin off the front of the engine ie; no hood scoop (or rad, at least not in the front) I'm concerned about how this setup might work on the street. I think it would look darn cool behind a track nose.
Cheers,
Ted
-
That should work- go for it! You got an old Potvin blower mounting kit? Side-draft or updraft carbs? Or convert a Hilborn 2-port to EFI. Put the radiator in the trunk- with a slew of louvers in the lid. 8-)
-
Hmmm...Track nosed `34 w/ radiator in the trunk.....You peeking in my shop windows again ???
-
I don't what those people said but it wasn't me peaking :-D :-D :-D :-D

i do have access to just the front engine mount but not the actual drive, but how hard can it be. The rest should be easy. I was thinking of hiding the efi injectors under the intake logs. Yes i know it's not era correct but it would make it easier to make it streetable.
