Stream is up and running. Drivers meeting will be at 9:00 AM and then racing should start around 11:00 AM
Click on the link at the top of this page that says:
Live Audio Streaming and Archives of Past Events
That will take you to the Meridix software and then click on Listen Live in the upper left of that screen.

Anyone else having trouble hearing the announcers?

Anyone else having trouble hearing the announcers?
So far all I've been hearing is white noise. No voices or race cars. Just an FYI. :-)
-
Once in a while i hear some voices in the background.
-
I just made Jon aware of the problem.
-
The audio stream link http://webca.st/100818 can be used with Winamp, Videolan and other audio/video programs, its not necessary to stay on the meridix site.
I havent heard anything proper yet on the stream either.
Greetings from Finland :)

Is the streaming down?

Is the streaming down
-
Working fine for me right now.
-
I'm living Speed Week vicariously this year. I really appreciate any and all efforts to live stream from the Salt, it can't be easy. I look forward to listening in when the streaming is up.
Jim
-
Streaming issues seem to have been resolved. Sorry for any inconvenience!
Gregg
-
The gain could come up just a touch.
-
Went up just a touch.....How's that Ransom?
Gregg
-
It still could come up a bit. There is a bit of phasing going on... background hiss is very present.
-
Not working to well unfortunately :-(
-
Sorry the audio is not doing well. We are using SCTA equipment, not mine, and there is some kind of issue going on with Jon's laptop. We'll try to get it fixed for tomorrow.
DAMNED frustrating for me as I know we can do better!!!!!
Gregg
-
Not sure if this helps, but... If I turn the volume all the way up, I can here people talking in the background.
-
Thanks for that Ryan. I've already left the salt and tomorrow I'm going to try my laptop instead of SSS's.
Stay tuned(as it were :-D) and we'll see what happens tomorrow!
Gregg
-
I had to put the battery of this MacBook into the fridge to let it shrink enough that it'd let me type. Anyway --
I'm sorry. The danged thing just won't go right. We tried, and this evening, as I left the salt, I asked Ron Cohn to work with us on the audio mixer -- which is farkling the sound that's then being fed to the laptop, and that's having trouble staying with the SCTA ethernet so --
Mike Manghelli will fiddle with that in the morning, too. And I've asked Chad from Banshift to stop by. Maybe he can help us get a good-sounding stream to all of you. Dang it, it's very great stuff you're kmissing -- I mean, hey -- I'm one of the radio pronouncers. What more could you want?
Well, other than George running a 382 off the trailer and Danny at 416 back door - and the tastiest sound you've ever heard.
Really -- we're trying to get it to you any way we can. Stay tuned - is all I can say.
-
Here we go for another day of SpeedWeek. Nothing is new since last night (on the streaming front, at least), but we're gonna give 'er all day today and see if we can get you the sounds of SpeedWeek. I sure hope it works right today. :-D
-
Stream is up and running. It appears that the laptop that SSS has is the problem. We are currently running on my laptop and everything appears to be working like at the ECTA / LTA events.
I currently have music playing and would appreciate it if someone would let me know if the sound is OK.
Return record runs will begin here in approximately and I'm assuming Ron and Jon will be announcing.
Gregg

Sounds great! Thanks for the all the hard work!

Thanks for the input. Any others listening?

Thanks. Yep, back to the soothing sound of Ron Christensen!
Steve.
-
Brilliant job today, gentlemen. Thank you!
-
To the audio streaming team, many thanks for the coverage and entertainment from afar. In particular, stepping out occasionally to listen to fast passes on the long course that could be hear on the streamed webcast was a treat.
Jim
-
Just a very big thank you for working out the issues. Very well done.
-
Slim missed his calling. He makes for a great announcer. He is quite an entertainer.
Joe

I've been lurking in the UK for coming up 10 years now, and visited Speedweek for the 60th, so I know how things have come on, and it's just brilliant being able to listen on line. I see a fair amount of moaning about the lack of video, and I'm sure that would be great, but probably impractical, and frankly unless it's done really well I think it will detract from the experience. However, sat here, dibbing in and out and trying to follow what's going on I can imagine 2 huge improvements that may or may not be practical. A web cam so I can see who is in line, it would want to be HD, but only needs to update at about the rate the cars depart, so not much bandwidth. Live timing - I don't think you even have that at the salt, so that'll be a few years coming :)
Anyway, that's my suggestion for a 10 year plan. Cheers, Andy
-
Andy -- thanks so much. I worked for a bunch of years to get the audio streaming going out here, and it's gratifying to hear your feedback.
Before we jump to video -- and I've talked with Chad from Bangshift about having him try setting it up for us as an experiment -- we've still got lotsa bugs working for and not against us. Hey -- the laptop I use to stream took us in the goofiest directions before we figured out the big hassle. We're getting there, and SCTA is working with us so we get good information to give out.
But -- sorry I don't know -- but WTF is "live timing"? Whaddaya mean? :?
-
Stream for today id up and running and return record runs will begin in approximately 15 mins.
I did find SSS's laptop streaming issue yesterday afternoon so that is resolved! His laptop will be used for the remainder of SpeedWeek.
Today is my last day here, so enjoy the streams for the rest of the week.
Gregg
-
Jon -- having lost the same 2 development years as the racers it's hardly surprising things were a bit rusty at the start.
by live timing I mean pretty much the time sheet we get from the SCTA http://nebula.wsimg.com/d8450724cda0bb92b29eb3dd73d26c76?AccessKeyId=1B489604A3781742F233&disposition=0&alloworigin=1 (http://nebula.wsimg.com/d8450724cda0bb92b29eb3dd73d26c76?AccessKeyId=1B489604A3781742F233&disposition=0&alloworigin=1), but one get that fills out as it happens, or near enough. The SCTA file is great, but as things stand I have no idea who is running on a record this morning. I was trying to find the times for Alain Prost's lad, but as he ran on the short course there don't seem to be any.
I hope that makes sense :)
Andy

Records runs are beginning now!

Is live stream working? Sounds like day #1 with nothing but white noise. Could be Slims computer is still an issue?

Frickin' streaming program won't open. Working on it.
-
Ooohhhh. The first letter of the p/w is upper case, hunh?
Is it working? I'm guessing yes.
-
Loud and clear.
-
Slim, you need to turn the back ground music down just a touch. And you are coming in loud and clear. Thanks for doing this.
-
Lot's would like video but seems like a really big deal to implement. Wondering if there would be a way to just show a jpg picture - use the entry picture linked to car / motorcycle number whenever they run?
-
Slim, many thanks again to the streaming team. Just a quick note but the second announcer (Ron?) isn't coming in clear. It sounds like his mike isn't plugged in and we are getting his commentary via your open mike.
Cheers and thanks again.
Jim
-
Great. Now we have both of you audible. Cheers from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Jon:
All I have is dead air on the east coast at 10:05 your time.
Bill

Never mind. I hear voices now.... not the normal ones in my head but Slim's voice from Bonneville.
Bill

Wish I had the link Bill. It's my only other connection to SW and will sure help with the insomnia. :-D

Great job on the announcing. Now that I am off the salt and back home it really fills the gap. Great seeing you and Nancy. Thanks for all you do.

Thanks loads for your effort in bringing the sounds of the salt to those of
us that could not make it this year.

Slim,
I've been listening to you guys all week long driving around So. Cal. in my truck for work. Totally cool being able to listen to the goings on out on the salt while on the road. Thank you very much for providing this most excellent coverage for all of us to hear.
-
I'm sitting in the shade in the yard listening on smart phone. Central, Wa.
-
Awesome broadcast guys. I couldn't make it this year but while farm work never quits, I'm streaming through my smartphone to my Bluetooth headset while driving my tractor (trying to set a record for how slow can you go)
-
Sounding good from the Beaverhead (?????) area of Montana.
Gregg
-
Sounded good today ... as much as I could listen to, darn work keeps getting in the way.
I always get a chuckle when Jon starts going about the weather conditions ... "Folks it's getting really hot out there, it's all the way up to 86F". Jon, until this recent monsoon rains that have set in, here in Kentucky we have had weeks of low 90s with heat indexes in the triple digits. 86F with single digit humanity, would be like air conditioning to me.
I guess folks that live "on top of the bridge" get the "sweats" when it's above freezing. :-D

x2,, I smiled when Jon made that comment, as its the same here in "Tropical" North Queensland,, I hafe to put a jumper on at anything below 72F" :-)
-
Five by five in Natick, Massachusetts. Thank you for the efforts! Still wish I were there!
-
Jon Wennerberg is, without a doubt, the best person to ever hold a mike at Bonneville.
-
Yes thanks to all involved for the Audio Streaming and enjoyed Ron and Jon.
-
Thanks for the great job. You made it realistic for us that couldn't be there in person. Jim Kerr
-
Nancy's gonna stay in the room and clean it up and move us out, so I'm gonna hitch a ride to the salt to get the morning going. I hope to get there in time to get the stream up and flowing like diarrhea (!) soon enough.
-
Why were you "jokers' picking on Chris Conrad yesterday?????? :-D
Bad guys.

Much better dub-in then the music. Not everyone has the same taste in music.... BUT, EXTREME machines, we all share something in common! Maybe download these or find the full season for next broadcast for down time? Just a suggestion.
Thanks for all the awesome action this week guys!!! GREAT JOB!!!!
-
The troll is back. :?
-
Slim, you and Ron "Done good".
-
Fantastic job, Ron and Jon!
I have enjoyed listening all week long. It must be a daunting task to keep talking for nearly a solid week - keeping the "vibe" positive continuously.
...and yes, Ron - I have changed the oil on many Mercedes Benz automobiles, especially diesels. Filthy beasts.
Steve.
-
X2 What Monte said. Thanks for all your hard work you two.
-
Yes, Jon, I'm listening out here.
I'm rooting for Carbone / Johnston / Wendt in th3 #112 Crosley Pickup. I'd like to hear them bump the record a little bit. Not TOO much, but raise the bar just a bit.
Steve.
-
Ron and Jon, :-D
Thanks for making the audio fun to listen to. 8-)
Thanks for the efforts to add some colorful commentary and pass on some fun you guys must have been having.
Looking forward to meeting some day. :-D
Regards from the high country,

-
They've taken away our audio equipment so I'm shutting this the hell down and Nancy and I will head it to SLC and beyondYup, we're gonna not stream the last record return runs. 2 bikes, two cars. Sorry - but that's that. Thanks. Donations will be greatly appreciated.
Jon a/k/a SSS, for the doofus Ron
(He's on the road and won't see this post)
-
That's all folks......
Thanks again for bringing Speed Week to life for us, Jon, Ron, and Gregg.
Steve.
-
My only complaint is that you guys made people think I am a steak house instead of a hotrod builder.....
-
Ron and Jon,
Thanks for the live stream as well anyone that helped in the background. It was great to hear both on the salt and when I returned to Florida.
Safe travels all,
BR
-
:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D. Thanks SSS and Ron for a great job. Couldn't be there so your descriptions kept my heart at Bonneville. Slim, we'll be passing through da UP mid September on our way to Traverse City. May give you and Nancy a jingle. Thanks again. Larry Crosby
-

Bad guys.
Because I called to let them know that the feed wasn't working.
