I'm sure everyone has seen the photo of Rollie on the Vincent in swim shorts laying prone on the bike at 150 MPH in 1948...He wasn't the only bike rider to lay prone like that at Bonneville...Was Rollie's run made during a competition event and where there any safety rules at all? I run a bike and today's rules require the rider to have hands and feet on the bars and foot pegs while on the track..

That is a very famous picture in deed. I'd just be guessing, but I'd think that there were more folks looking at your performance than your driving technique.
Nowadays, take a look at what the guys are doing on motocross bikes with the aerial acrobatics. As soon as enough people decide that you could get hurt doing that, it will be brought to a halt too.

Trucked... I guess you have not seen any of the old Bonneville pictures of cars.... no roll structures, simple lap belt if it had a seat belt at all, any tire... all those things evolved with time and blood.
Ask Tom Smith if he would ride in a swim suit in competition again

Just remembered this post from the Doc years ago about the above Cordoba:
Ignorance is my best defense.
It sure is nice that my memory is slipping.
On the freeway at 70 MPH in cruise I gently slipped it into reverse.
The 18 wheeler that was tailgating me, as the smoke boiled off my back tires,
saw his trailer try to pass him. Now that was exciting.
It did not come out of cruise. It just buried the pedal against the floor.
Now that was a great feature.
I imagine he didn't believe it when the back up lights flashed on.

I did that to my grandfathers Buick Wildcat, reverse was where first gear should have been. Most cars were PRNDL, not Buick.
