I okayed this with Slim before I posted it up.
I don't know how many of you are on the "Speedtalk" boards, but they've put together an offer which I've bought in on, and if they can reach 200 buyers, it's a substantial discount.
The kit is a suite of software programs, including Engine Pro, Quarter Pro, Density, Fourlink, Clutch Pro and Bonneville Pro.
If they can get to 200 pre-orders, all 6 programs will only set you back $99.00. There's hours of audio interviews and tech included, and if they can reach 250 buyers, they're throwing in Pipemax.
The deal needs to be done by March 15. They have 120 preorders as of today (3/8/2016). If they can't get to the 200, then it goes away, but again, if they can get to 250, you get a free Pipemax program.
For the cost of a pair of pitted, used M/T valve covers at a swap meet, it looks like a decent deal.
This is where you'd sign up -

This is the site for the programs -

Belly up to the bar boys & girls! One build-brain-fart will cost you way more than 99 bucks! :-o :x
This is the lowest cost way to play what-if to amaze yourself and your racing buds!

If we don't get some salt, this may be the only way to go racing for a while. You'd be amazed at the HP you can build with computer.

My thought is this -
I'd rather spend $99.00 and a bunch of hours crunching numbers and eliminating bad choices than buying parts and finding out they're not working 1600 miles away from home.
I've been down that road - it makes I-80 an extremely long and tedious drive.
Yes, you can use all of the predictive software in the world and still build a turd, but it's still cheaper than building two or three turds.
Woody, your tag line is spot on.
All models are wrong, but some are useful!

I was looking at just the pipemax software and it was close to $100, so I too have signed up for this whole package deal.

How about a discount on "The horsepower chain" too?

:-D
Guys, just so you're aware - I'm not the one brokering this deal, it's all being handled by Speedtalk - I've got no control over it. Their rules govern what's available, how to procure it and what you'd get. I'm signed on because it looks like a sweet suite, and it's something I want to dig deeper into. With Slim's blessing, I wanted you guys to know as well, and that's why it's posted here.
They've got 124 committed as of now, so it looks like it's going to happen before the 15th. Like Saltracer1, I'm hoping we hit 250 and get the Pipemax program as well.

When you go thru the process to sign up for the suite deal, then you get
a chance to buy Horsepower Chain. Since I have already read the book, I
didn't pay attention to the price ...... sorry. Maybe someone else can report
back on the cost.
-
As of this morning, Speedtalk is at 171 committed, so at this rate, it looks like the 6 pack deal is in the bag, and the Pipemax deal is looking probable.

It was another $100 which I passed on ....I have reposted the link to Speed Talk to 3 other forums so far.

The HP Chain book will give you a better insight into practical/applied engine theory, how the engine programs were developed from empirical data, and how they work. If you are happy with the program answers and your own body of knowledge you can skip it. And if your competitors skip it too then maybe you will beat them and then again maybe not ................... :-o :-o
Just sayin'! :-D

Too good a deal to not sign up... I'm in. I didn't know they had the "source code" books either... might make for a future birthday gift to myself.
-
I placed my order. 8-)
-
Shaazaam - we've hit the 200 mark - actually, 202.
48 away from a free copy of Pipemax.
If you were on the fence because you didn't think you'd see the 6 pack - you've still got time, and if it keeps up at this rate, I'm thinking the "Gift with Purchase" is looking quite likely.

Eventually most of us that are building uncommon engines will need to use this type of analysis. There will be a time when no parts are made for purpose and the racer needs to design their hardware.

Reserved mine. It said 249 had sold before I did mine. Maybe I'm #250. :-D

I received an email date stamped around 9 a.m. today that said the total was 221, 29 more to go. I hope it is over 250 already....

I just placed an order.

Probably update by hand every once in a while.

Says 271 now. Woot!
-
Less than a day left on this.
I've seen infinitely more expensive and vastly less usable "tools" sell for a lot more.

It took my order but did not give a number sold.

I'm playing with Bonneville Pro tonight. Pretty neat software. Has anyone successfully, matched a speed calculated in Bonneville Pro with real world results. If so/not did you build in correction factors? I'd love to talk to someone by phone about this. PM if you're interested/willing. Thanks.

I just received my copies today and haven't had time to work with the programs or correlate the video of my best run with the time slip or the software, but I want to work that out. Give me a few days, and drop me a PM.
