Title: Stilletto rack wanted.
Post by: Dr Goggles on March 04, 2016, 09:59:23 PM
Hi all,

We need a stilletto rack for the Spirit of Sunshine, smaller the better, slower the better.

Thank you for your kind consideration.

Sure you want a stilletto style rack?
I would suggest a center load style rack... gives you longer tie rods.
also if you want to slow any rack down a steering quickener turned backwards is a steering slowerer....

This should start some conversation...

Save you a little google time
Mount rack on axle and no bump steer...
Liner rack available....

Thanks Bob.

Since the last re-jig of the steering the tie rods are parallel to the axle and as the only movement is a little bit of axle flex bump steer wasn't in the calcs. when I said stilletto I meant one of those dragster units, the narrow ones, I only realised after your post that it refers to the full width ones as well.

Our VW Kombi pitman arm has a double eye so the tie rods reach right to the centre-line so a rack like you suggest is an easy fit.

is this what we're after ? it says 1.5:1.

Forgot you were rigid...
Know anybody in the states traveling your way?  I could send it along for you to check.  Too bad you didn't bring this up before your speedweek, could of had Les put it in his luggage....  :-D
PM a shipping address and any info I might need to get it smuggled onto the island
