Title: LSR newcomer with SCTA/BNI membership questions
Post by: sweet_baby_james on February 23, 2016, 02:31:59 PM
Hello everyone,

I am a newcomer to LSR and I have been working on a motorcycle to run at El Mirage and Bonneville for some time. I am hoping to attend the El Mirage events this year, Bonneville Speed Week and possibly BUB. I am somewhat confused as to what memberships I need to have to run in these events.  This is what I have deduced:

 - For El Mirage, I need SCTA membership.  The only way to do this is to be a member of an SCTA-sanctioned club.
 - For Speed Week I need BNI membership but not SCTA. BNI membership can be done through the SCTA-BNI website, no need for club membership.
 - For BUB, must be an AMA member, but must also register for FIM if you want to set recognized world records.

Hopefully somebody out there will be able to straighten this out for me! I am in Southern California, Orange County so ideally a club in that area would be good if anyone has recommendations.

Thanks in advance for your help.

For SpeedWeek, you don't need a BNI membership if you're an SCTA member.

Thanks Stan. And SCTA membership is achieved by joining an SCTA sanctioned club?

I will forego the obvious "get a rule book" statement because you have been building your bike for a while. Look in section 17 for a listing of the associated clubs. A glance at the contact area code will narrow the choice of clubs to your location.

DW, thanks for your response. I see there are a number of clubs in my area, I was really looking to see if there are any clubs that might be preferable for motorcyclists? It seems that many of the clubs have a very limited, or non-existent, website to try and get more information about them.

Thanks

The Gear Grinders are local to you and have a lot of MC racers.

The LSR club also has a large number of bike racers. We meet 1st Tuesday of every month at the Greenside Cafe at the Dad Miller golf course in Anaheim.
