Post by: DRW on February 08, 2016, 01:52:59 AM
So its Feb.My buddy Bill Aka Nortonist said to me last summer, I have a feeling it could be a couple years before we get back to Bonneville !
So I ask you "HEROS" Masters of BSF, Or just guys that have been there way more than I , Seldom S. S. , Stainless , others ?
What do you think chances are for Speedweek or BMST 2016 ?
Maybe im doing this because someone asked will you be there 2016 and as always everyones answer got my mind flowing ,And As I answered , I will be Hoping, Wishing, & Praying that 2016 gets almost back to thin but normal..
Please let me know what you Vets think ?
Thank You For Your time , In Advance !

Well, along with many others, we are certainly hoping for the best. Our flights are booked. So fingers are crossed for good dry, ride-able salt.
See you there, salt gods willing.

Intrepid is already pumping brine...back. The salt is hard as a rock right now. I think things look as good as possible. If we get all the moisture on the ground in the first of the year, we are going racing.

Except this douche may make the entry a little worse for wear.

I was hoping the idiot would take it out too far in the water and
lose the car. It would have been funny watching it float away! :-D

What? They DO know that is very salty water, right? That Lambo will be a pile of rust in a year. Just like my trailer and F-150 is right now. Or maybe they will sell it to some clueless buyer for $100k

I think BMST is a possibility due to the relatively few (and much lighter) vehicles on the salt.  From what I saw in Sept. there are two problems; will there be enough salt to run on (especially for a long course) and will the salt at Land's End be strong enough to allow access for a few thousand vehicles.  BMST treads much more lightly than other events.

I (as well as several members of lr.com) attended the Opportunities in Land Speed Racing seminar at the PRI show in December.
We were told of an engineers suggestion of a "supercharging" pumping solution that could take place instead of the regular pumping. It was said that this "supercharging" could lay down as much as 2" of new salt. This would mean that NO racing would take place at Bonneville in 2016. A vote was taken and the majority of attendees voted for this.

Please listen to the seminar link that Louise Posted and hear for yourself:

O.K.  Sofa & Gkabbt , Thats what im asking, So I just spent an hour listening, Listening to Louise & Especially Tom Burkland Say what we all know , They should keep pumping and even though I will be a S.O.A.B. come August & Sept again, Because I know where I should be , All Events should be put on hold until 2017 to make everything close to perfect again.
Im a bike racer so the thought of BMST running because we dont need so much room, And we dont do so much upsetting of the salt because there is less of us, I must admit sounds so good ,  But come on, How fair would that be ?
But hey I dont make the rules, If there is only BMST this summer im there !
But the bottom line is, Unless Someone in the know like Louise, Burkland or Rick Vesco says , Great News Its all back already ,  We should band together and as Tom Said, Keep pumping all during the summer months of 2016 !  And bring Bonneville back to its best Form.
Thank You to all that are working to keep the mining companies doing the correct thing now.
