We saw that in the theater in spot that does "art" films. Good show.

Andy's (my next door neighbor) sister is married to Al Jardine, of "Beach Boys" fame.
Andy heard Rodriguez in July in Vegas--he opened for Al's "Surf Band"!
-
I put a set of Jardine headers on my '65 GTO back in the day- any relation to Al Jardine?
Regards, Neil Tucson, AZ

I will ask?

haha wow, holy shit! I thought ginger baker had a hell of a story.

Thanks for posting that Mike. It is a good story. The scenes from SA were really interesting. It is a country that we know little about. It is a pretty place.
-
So, listening to the album now... drinking a nice cider, kind of drunk... sitting in front of the fire place... good freakin' day!
-
The old albums are rare. Don't spill beer on it.
Sixto on CD was hard for me to find. They had one in our local used CD store. It is the movie soundtrack titled "Searching for Sugar Man." These addresses are on the CD cover www.lightintheattic.net (http://www.lightintheattic.net) and www.legacyrecording.com (http://www.legacyrecording.com).

On that first site, click on "all", then on "R" and things are listed in alphabetical order. All of Rodriguezes' music is available in some form. I should have mentioned this in the previous post. This is an interesting web site.

What a great story Mike, in fact stories within stories. I thought I'd take a quick look before going to bed & I just couldn't put it down, now it's after 13 o'clock in the morning & I have to leave for Utah in less than 4 hrs for sheet metal on the liner. Meh... I'll sleep at the wheel, the Riviera has cruise.

KBT, saw Asleep at the Wheel at Floores Country Store in Helotes Texas back when I drank enough to country dance
Great video Mikey

One of our neighbor's use to play keyboard and drive the bus for Asleep at the Wheel. :-D
That is indeed a great video Mike

I got my Rodrigues LP in 1972.
In late June I had a bad bike crash that resulted in me losing my
left Patella (kneecap). I was in cast from ankle
to thigh for 9 months. I was the rookie hockey player on a team
with much older guys. 10 years older at least and wise in the ways
of the world. Bunch of degenerates actually. :-D :-D
They all had long hair, rode bikes like Triumph Bonnevilles and Norton Comandos and chased women
when they weren't smoking weed. :-o :-o
They were supposed to have jobs but for some reason they always hung out at my place.
They were there to eat my mom's food while she was at work. They always had the munchies.
Long story short. I ended up with a good selection of music. Each guy brought a few LPs for the bed ridden
kid. I got Grand Funk Railroad, Santana, Ten Years After, Rodrigues, James Taylor, Jethro Tull and a bunch of others.
Being isolated in South Africa we thought Rodrigues was famous like all the rest.
I never gave it much thought until I saw the documentary on cable. We now know that wasn't the case. :x
I guess he could have moved here to the sunshine and become royalty instead of being in Detroit.
-
Looks like he got screwed pretty good over here but his heart is still in Detroit.
