Title: Reproduction of First VW Racer Coming to LSR
Post by: 36hplandspeedracer on December 13, 2015, 12:37:37 AM
It has been awhile since the last update on the 36hp Challenge Type 64 recreation being built in North Carolina. The crew of Bruce Cook, Dave MIller, Whitey Worsham and Elbert Efird have been working vigorously behind the scenes to make this masterpiece come together so I thought I would post the latest photos they have shared. As can be seen, the extremely difficult part of creating the body, all of the interior panels, are now formed and installed. Kudos to Dave for this amazing effort. Enjoy the images............Burly

As a VW guy myself I think this is incredible. I may have missed it but what are the plans for the engine?

Sofadriver, that is a post from one of the crew, Bruce Cook, showing the Whitey Worsham engine under construction. Hopefully Bruce will post more details as I have not yet been made privy to all their plans.

In the picture I see 36 hp head tins, but also Weber type manifolds. Will it be carbed or injected?  CC??

It will be running Weber 48's on "improved" WW Okrasa style heads and large displacement.

This is the I.R.S. chassis that will set beneath the beautiful T64 body currently being assembled in North Carolina.

A simply amazing project!!!!!

Every once in a while, a price is no object project comes along to talented fabricators, engine builders, whatever.

To those who get to participate in this type of project, savor your good fortune, not every project proceeds in this manner.
