Title: getting close now
Post by: comet on May 18, 2015, 03:30:44 AM
Only 103 days to go.
Not that I am getting excited or anything, but we are almost down to sub 100 days until the Speed Trials.
 8-)

Actually its 100-days until I leave home on August 26th. Bikes are 98% ready with dyno-testing scheduled next week. I have a feeling that salt-conditions will be the primary concern for many..............Hotel rooms are still available.

Have a good race.  And good luck.  This trip to the UK and Europe spent my racing budget.  We will be staying home this year.

Where abouts in the UK did you visit Wobbly?
I guess the current exchange rate would very eaisly snaffle up any spare ( as if anyone has any spare) money currently.

Six weeks to go.....................AND THE SALT IS DRYING :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Based on today's photos, its a WHOLE-LOT dryer than last year...........only a small puddle and some mush at the end of the road............

How thick is the salt? Will it support hundreds of trips from land's end to the course(s) and back?

With all the salt brine being pumped back by intrepid it shouldn't be a problem  Yeah right.

Dan does the BNI or Save The Salt know the percent of salt in a gallon of this brine?

Have they verified it them selves?  Shouldn't be hard to do. Fill a gallon jug, evaporate and measure multiply
by amount of tons of brine pumped. Has Save The Salt has verified the gallons pumped?

  I guess that's, I don't know.

Hoping for info for all Landracing members.

  Anyone else?

According to the SCTA Facebook page the event has been cancelled.

"*****Speed Week 2015 Has Been Cancelled*****
frown emoticon

The SCTA President/Race Director Bill Lattin & the BNI Chairman spent this morning (July 20th) on the salt. The most they could find was 2 1/4 miles of salt suitable for a safe race course. The rest of the salt flats are either wet or wet and muddy. If the wet salt gets dry, future events could be possible."

Note the last few words................. :-)
