Title: Twin engines in XF class
Post by: turborick on April 01, 2015, 04:11:02 PM
Is it legal to run twin engines in the XF streamliner class?

XF is 325 cubic inches max. XXF is 375. Hard to make that with two engines.

It's Australia, mate.

Mr. Flathead, John Bradley, thought it was okay.

So Stan are you saying that the rules in Australia in the XF class are different then the rules here in the states?

Rick...I just looked at the 2015 DLRA rules and they are the same as ours for flathead V8 engines, seems like he would have to run with late model OHV engines the same as he would have to do here.

from what I understand Mike Davidson modified those two motors to be below the 325 cubic inch limit.

Saltracer 1, Just checked their website, your right 162.5 each for the 325 total...

Nothing in the fuel streamliner rules says OHV is mandatory. He wants to build the world's fastest flathead powered car, it seems. Nothing wrong with that.

Pretty darn expensive mods to make to just run a bit over 300.

Rick --

Well, In 2.A.1, XF is described as ". . . any production . . . flathead enginE. . .", not engines.

But then again, it isn't sanctioned by the SCTA, even tho they do (I guess) use the SCTA Rule Book.

I'm guessing he just wanted to have some sorta Flathead bragging rights.  Seems like you already got some -- at 280.

Ron Main and Don Ferguson Jr are both in the 302 range, XF and XXF respectively.

Think about this. XF is for Ford/Mercury flathead V8 passenger car engines. Not just flathead or other brands and 6's could used and also not Ford truck engines either.

But how about using 2 V8-60's. Streamliner can use multiple engines and I think the V8 60's meet the passenger car requirement.....just saying.

My thoughts would be two V8 sixtys also.

I'm betting on one Jimmy Stevens.

I think the twin is a great idea just wasn't sure about the legality if it's just a maximum displacement thing and he is under the max then it's all good in my eyes.
We made a one way pass of 313 miles an hour with one of Jamie Stevens engines when we turboed it
