Title: Chain guard questin for newbe
Post by: jcburris on February 15, 2015, 10:42:25 PM
Hello, If the motor has a aluminum countershaft cover (oil cooled GSXR) does the chain guard have to extent to the countershaft centerline, or just to the cast aluminum countershaft cover? How far should the chain guard be from the chain?

Thanks

CHRIS

The chain guard needs to cover the chain... if the chain is covered by the cover, then it is guarded til it exits the cover, so then you need to guard it from there to the rear edge of the rear sprocket.
The guard should be close enough to retain the chain, but far away enough to no get smacked under normal operation... Mine are about an inch above the top of the chain
