This is a place holder for pics from the WoS this weekend.
In addition to helping get the live audio stream going, I'll be taking pics beginning Friday and will post the links in this thread.
Also, anyone who has pics or links, please feel free to post here!

The trip in from Lands End was no fun with deep water in several areas.....Oh well!
Weather was absolutely spectacular today! Low 80's, few clouds and plenty of sunshine. Pits and courses look spectacular.
Today was pit setup and tech inspection day.
Met quite a few members from here on LR.com and that was REALLY cool!
Here is my Google+ link of some of today's bikes and cars!

As usual, I hope you enjoy the pics!

Gregg, we can always rely on you to come to the party.
For those of us that are too far away to be there this really helps.

Thanks for the shots! That purple lakester is pure sex! Anyone have details on it?
Trent, I agree and I'll try to get more info on it. I do know they are out of Nashville, TN and it's powered by a Ford 2.3 style N/A engine.
Gregg
-
Nice photos, is that a Mitchell B-25 in the flyover?
Gary, Yes it is. The Wendover Air Base is having an Air Show today and the B-25 came in from AZ for that.
Rides are available for $650.00 and $850.00.....To rich for my blood!

I remember it now! We discussed it last winter. Looks even better on the salt!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was able to do a Pre-Inspection on the car at Speed Week. Chip Gerber, who is partners in the car with Steve Tracy (Advanced Plating) has been running a Roadster for some years, and has a handle on things. There really wasn`t alot they needed to address. Really glad to see it out and running....
-
Like yesterday, the trip in from Lands End was no fun with deep water in several areas!
Weather was absolutely spectacular again today! Mid 80's, few clouds and plenty of sunshine.
Met several more members from here and again REALLY cool to put a face with a name/ID.
Here is my Google+ link of some of today's bikes and cars in the staging lanes, pits and under way on both courses!

Thanks Gregg,
We were gutted when SW was cancelled and your images bring some consolation.. we wish it could have happened in August though. :/

Looked like Impound to me.

What did you think, Mister guy all dressed in a faux Nascar outfit. Did you really think that new-style Camaros are just as good as an old Toyota Land Crusher -- drive through anything?
-
I saw this Dude zipping around where he shouldn't have been yesterday and today.....Serves him right!
Gregg
-
Any bet it's a rental.......

The trip in from Lands End seemed a "little" better today but still had deep water in several areas.
It also seemed better this afternoon as the temps were in the upper 80's/low 90's helped to dry the water.
Weather was absolutely spectacular again today! Warm temps, few clouds and plenty of sunshine.
Again, met several more members from here and again REALLY cool to put a face with a name/ID.

Today was my last day here and the WoS has been WONDERFUL!!!!! I'll probably do this again next year!
The BEST part of all this was to see Chris and Steve get there respective records.....GREAT GOING GUYS!
As usual, I hope you enjoy the pics!

I stand corrected. He was outfitted in formula 1 garb. Hugh Coltharp (USFRA treasurer, works at Land's End) said the guy got to Land's End and wouldn't pay to go on the salt to see the event. He was extra-grumpy and rude and left. I hear he evidently decided to drive around the end of the pavement and the "pay gate" and save himself some money -- showing the USFRA that he was better than them.
Hmm, let's see. he saved the twenty bucks of a one day pass, but spent how many hundreds getting towed out?
I hear he wouldn't speak to anyone after he was freed. Grouch!
-
:-D Serves him right for being so tight.
-
Ya gotta love KARMA!
-
Love the pictures Gregg. Thanks for posting them!
-
The purple lakester belongs to Chip Gerber from Illinois and Steve from Advanced Plating

Jon, where do these guys come from? By refusing to pay the modest $20 fee, he robs USFRA of much needed funds to sponsor race dates so this idiot has a place to come see some very fast cars. I be even the F1 community was glad to see him move on. I wonder if he ever pulled such a stunt at a F1 event? Bums rush comes to mind.
Hey, is there any site I can get race logs for the 7th and 8th?
-
Nice photos, is that a Mitchell B-25 in the flyover?
Here are 4 pics of the Maid in the Shade B-25 that my wife snapped at the Wendover Air Show last weekend:

We were on the short course on Saturday and Sunday, back with our Opel to redeem ourselves after burning through a piston in 2012 and going home early, but not early enough to prepare a new motor for the following weekend's road race. I got photos from the short course and after we finished, from the long course on Sunday.
I've posted them to our FB page at - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.932801133400711.1073741844.192201637460668&type=1
Ignore the first dozen or so photos.
A few examples.
Getting there was half the fun.

I am pretty dumb at posting stuff, but here are some Team Fat Azero Racing pix from our 1st trip to the salt on 4 wheels. Don & I are LSR (mostly asphalt) motorcycle guys so everything was new.
A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to Tom Burkland & Rex Svoboda (TFA Mentors) for massive, detailed, untiring, persistent technical & logistical advice and unceasing good humored encouragement.
On Sept 23, 2013, Stainless Steele (TFA Instigator) let us know a virgin B Gas Lakester was available in Missoula. We quickly bought it from Chas Kaparich and had it delivered to Houston on Oct. 26. It was then heavily "tweaked" by my Partner (and fabricating whiz) Don Davila. He stretched the cabin/engine bay 22", re-jiggered the rear axle, fabricated a new canopy and a host of other work. Allied Wheel's Greg Mulkey built custom aluminum "Raceline Bonneville" wheels to give us zero scrub radius. This "Just In Time" build finally went to the dyno immediately before Speed Week.

Anyone know what kind of trouble the Black Salt Car had.
-
I heard it lost a motor. The track was down for awhile after.
-
Off their website, http://www.blacksaltracing.com/
"Update September 7, 2014
The car spun at about the 3 mile. It stayed on its wheels but enough damage was done that we are finished for this event. We are still looking at the data to determine what caused the spin."
Tom G.
-
At WoS, Ron announced on the radio that they lost an engine at the 3, caught air in a spin but stayed upright and lost some of the body panels. IIRC, track was down for approximately 30 min for cleanup.
I did not go over and get any pics of the car when they got it back to their trailer.

I like to add a picture of the little "Green" diesel....not really green....pollution like a well known green...little bit bigger...truck :-D :-D :-D and he was a little bit faster...
-
Nice photo, Thomas.

-
Hey,
what is going on.....
no protests from any green party....or the green owner....sorry, mean the owner of the green racer....
all right, lets check the reality....for diesel he smokes nearly nothing....is this really a diesel...
-
We all liked the smoke show!!! :-D :-D :-D We've all followed diesel pickup trucks that seem to have a similar output.
Thanks Pork Pie. Great sense of humour.
Pete
-
I did pay attention to the smoke trails from the diesel engines out there at WoS -- and noticed that, for instance, Big Tim's pickup would spew heavy smoke early in each gear. But the smoke almost disappeared for a couple of seconds before the shift. I can understand why it'd be gone when he's off throttle -- but this absence appeared to be a bit before that throttle lift. Was it from the engine starting to run leaner because it was finally burning most of the fuel?
-
slim, perhaps the time discrepancy from the distance away from you..?
-
My little green truck won't pour out the black smoke quite like the big ones, but it would certainly be a gross polluter if driven in ordinary traffic conditions.
Pork Pie - that's a great photo! - I'll contact you separately to see about purchasing print(s)
I can't speak for Big Tim directly, but the smoke trail most likely clears up when the boost supply catches up with the fuel supply.
Check this video of my Rampage on the dyno... Lots of black smoke when starting from lower rpm's in top gear (about the 20 second mark). When the rpm's get up, the boost builds to full strength, and the black smoke goes away (about the 27 second mark). There's finally enough air to burn all the fuel.

-
I still haven't uploaded all the photos shot by myself and friends.
One of the real highlights was meeting people on the salt.
Here's a quick pic of Marie - who turned out to be a good luck charm for our team.
Every time she sat in the truck, we set a new record....
I told her to bring a fire suit, and she can drive it next time.
-
...and here's what the Rampage's smoke signals really looked like. I don't know if the water injection has some effect, but the smoke is definitely more gray than black.

Hi Chris...world tallest Midget....
here a picture you are maybe interest...this was around the 2 1/2 mile on your return run.....no lift.....
-
As usual, Thomas-- another great picture. Extremely sharp, even at a distance and at speed. Maybe your knick name should be Zeiss Ikon. :-D
Nice run, Chris. The midget is definitely punching above its weight class.

I was on my way to the Reno Air Races and spent the night (in my car) in Wendover. Went out the next morning (Sunday) and spent a few hours taking pictures before continuing on. As airplanes are more my thing, I had not attended any automotive event prior to this and I had no idea what to expect. I'm sure this will sound silly to you guys but the movie "The World's Fastest Indian" was really the basis for my vision of what the event was like.
Anyway, I didn't take very many pictures, the rest can be found here http://www.pbase.com/jarrodeu/wendover2014

I know the event is long past and I'm really late posting photos but here are a few we took while we were out there. Lifes just been way to crazy to make time to hit the internet. Next year I won't be racing myself at all so I hope to get a lot of footage with the drone and get some excellent photos for WOS2015...
