Title: Leathers
Post by: BillB on September 01, 2014, 06:08:17 PM
I plan on running in September at ECTA.   Would this suit work http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pc-Motorcycle-Riding-Racing-Track-Suit-w-padding-All-Leather-Drag-Suit-Black-/261091126983?pt=Apparel_Merchandise&var=560151745027&hash=item3cca3e6ec7&vxp=mtr           Or what do you  recommend ?  Thanks

A couple of things to think about.  This suite doesn't specify hip pads, which are required along with elbow, knee, shoulder and back protector over 175 mph.  Also, the zipper is required to be metal, not nylon. I didn't see where it specified the material from which the zipper was made. If all those requirements are met, it's ok for ECTA, but it will not be accepted ay Bonneville because of the perforations.  Please reach out to myself or Joe directly with other questions.  Donnatimney@yahoo.com.

Some manufacturers (Vanson for one) have two piece suits attached by zippered sections rather than the full circumference one you'll need. Also the Tech folks who help protect us from ourselves, really are happy to see hardshell back protectors even for competitors running below 175.

VANSON, tell them what kind of racing your doing and they will make you safe and compliant with the racing sanctions rules

same with BATES, or any other quality racing suit company.
