That's pretty cool. What are the odds that satillite image capturing a jet liner flying over.

Sumner, you must have too much idle time on your hands to be fooling around with this stuff. Marc has your adapter plate done and I sent the $$ yesterday. Will send your way as soon as I get it.

I'll see if either he or Ted (N49 car) can bring it to the salt with them. That would save shipping if it hasn't shipped,

Great shot... :-D

Alright for any physicists in the crowd. Can the airplane plus air conditions cause a prismatic effect? Sure looks like it. :? :? :?

Sum,
Different wavelengths, aircraft is the same size.
-
It's not a shadow , it's something else . The sun shining on the plane is at a lower angle .
-
A thin layer of ice crystals just below the plane?

Check, if you can, the age of that photo. I'm quite sure I've seen one just like it -- stray airplane and all - in the past six months or so. Quite a catch by the satellite camera, yes -- but it might not be really truly representative of the salt conditions now.

Yes I agree, I doubt that is is recent. You can see 4 courses so I'll bet some time in the last 12 months or so. I can't remember, where there 4 courses 2 years ago?
I was actually looking, before I saw the plane, further north at the salt beyond 'Floating Mountain",

Looked up the image on google Earth - at the bottom of the pic it says the image date was 10/27/2009.
When flying commerical, have seen a full circle rainbow when flying close to the top of a white cloud. It is always directly opposite the sun and my thought is that it is a rainbow - moisture refracted light - just like the ones after a storm here on the surface.
Have no idea what is causing this aircraft "rainbow."
