Looks more than likely my turd will need a proper cage in the next 12-18 months if I plan to do anything but these airstrip exhibition "races." I'll throw her on a trailer to drive a few hours if needed.
Though the option to drop in and check up on things to make sure they are moving along would be nice.
Ideally a dedicated chassis fabricator with enough experience to put something together that would pass SCTA Tech Impound (preferably ECTA too) for a G/PS or G/BGT class Unibody car, as well as NHRA tracks where I'll be stuck testing for most of the next couple seasons.
I've made some calls and sent some emails, and if anyone gets back to me they seem to get uncomfortable about building a cage for upwards of 225mph on a non-paved surface..

What are you building. SCTA roll cage specs will pass any assoc. rules.

Glen is right on there... The racing surface has
NOTHING to do with the cage. Build it to SCTA
specs, you'll meet/exceed ECTA, NHRA, etc. A
full cage with more gussets than you'd expect,
a "funny car" loop around the driver's area for
good measure, full containment seat. Build by
the rule book and you're golden. Mike Reichen

know of a reputable shop.

I like the Okham quote.
I sent you a few names and numbers - hope you got them. PM me if you didn't.
redhotracing's correct. I did a tune and test day at Great Lakes Dragaway. I went through tech, and they seemed somewhat surprised at the nature of the cage in the Midget.
I repeated what my cage builder told me - "It's an 8 second cage in a 16 second car."
