Only in America. So does the driver get charged with multipul manslaughter too?

And people wonder why we have so little respect for lawyers. Looks like the ambulance chasers were out in full force helping the people who take no responsibility for their own actions.

1. BLM asserts authority to issue permits and set conditions
2. BLM issued the permit
3. the event violated the permit (only 300 spectators allowed, etc.)
4. BLM did nothing
5. BLM is at fault
Not liking lawyers has nothing to do with it.

panic
BLM sued..federal government has money.
Promoter not sued..probably has no money. (I wrong about the promoter-see below)
It appears that nobody felt the injured should have been responsible for their choice to stand right next to the race track.
I'm sorry people were injured or killed, but when are people (spectators) going to take some responsibility for their own actions and stop blaming someone else.

Maybe the promoters should charge one dollar per ticket and put a disclaimer on the ticket stating they watch the event at their own risk like they do at most events.

You know, if I were the insurance company - and I seldom side with insurance companies - I'd refuse to pay. If the promoter was operating outside of the terms of the contract with the BLM, then he was likely operating outside the terms of the insurance contract for the event.
Unfortunately, at $1 Million, it's probably cheaper for the insurance company to pay it than fight it.
As to the BLM - If I were the ranger on duty and was outnumbered to that extent - well over the numbers agreed to by the promoter - I would have shut it down. Law enforcement routinely turns people out of crowded nightclubs and venues when they've reached capacity. It was the ranger's right and duty to do so. As a sworn officer and an employee of the BLM, it DOES fall to them.
As to the idiots standing that close to the racing - my sympathies to the families - but they were idiots standing TOO CLOSE TO THE RACING.
