I am still in the process of converting the lakester to streamliner.  Lots more work than I expected since the project started with adding suspension to both ends.  It is very conventional with only 4 wheels, none aligned.  If I have to describe, it would be a small scale version of Howard Nofzingers last car.   Life has gotten in the way with my son Jims suicide last October, but I am very slowly recovering, and VOW that we will be testing next spring at Wilmington.  Perhaps with out the body being complete, but I'll be making noise and going down the track.
When I'm able to get properly motivated, lots of details are attended to.
Body will be a mixture of aluminum and composite.
Some specifics
Wheelbase 250 Inches
Front track  22 inches
rear track 25 inches
max width 33 inches
max height 35 inches
I only have a couple of photos worth posting.
On final assembly I'll try to post a thread.
Body design not fully defined yet.  My wind wizzard is good council and in my old age have finally learned to listen.

There was a pretty white flathead powered streamliner at the SEMA show that was brand new & had White Goose Bar on the side. Guy told me the car hadn't been run yet & was set up to possibly run a second motor later on.

Hey Rick,

Good to see pics of your car. I didn't get to see you in September at ECTA (don't know if you were there) but here is a motivating thought I came up with for you.

Since we brought our liner and had clutch issues and didn't run,
How about someone brings along a drag racing tree and we bring your liner and mine up to the starting line and mock it up like a drag race and take some pics.....Then we make some runs.....individually. I dont think they will let us run side by side...

Then we see if Mr. Turk will sponsor some Steaks and beers at Damons?
I believe that is the steak joints name......

Just a thought :-D  :-D

That is Kent Fullers car that is/was crowd sourced on Kickstarter.

Rick,

Thanks for posting the pics of your liner and look forward to seeing it in person and running down the track.
I know it is a quality piece, just like the Merkur.....Only longer!  :-D

See you and the car in Wilmington next Spring!
Gregg

PS
I'm really glad to hear that things are getting a little better for you. One day at a time my Friend.

My brother is building a streamliner. Main purpose is to go 200 with our Model B flathead one day but maybe shoot for 300 in the future. Interestingly enough, it also will look like a Nafzger car as it was based on some cf body parts that Kent Riches donated to him.  Chassis is mostly done but I think after some hard thinking, the car might get stretched some in the driver area to make for some more room.  Either way, it's a fairly long term project but it might get tested out at El Mirage without a body in the not so distant future.  I'm pretty sure I've posted a pic or two of it before in my "need a shop" thread.

This is not a new streamliner, but it gets the juices flowing for next year. Turn up the sound and close your eyes and it will be August.

I think there will be a new one out of Arizona with Ducati power.

It's a class operation. May be a year or more.

If you happen to buy the latest issue of "Cycle World" right inside the front cover is a two page picture of a very nice motorcycle streamliner, carbon fiber body and it looks like a pair of turbo late model Triumph engines. Nice piece anyone know the details?

Rex, it was at the SEMA show, nice looking liner but not legal in the roll cage area, or SCTA/BNI rules., It is beautiful construction and design.

Will be OK for FIM, but they have a long development path ahead in my opinion they ahve done a great job with PR, but the liner hasn't done anything yet.

Well it ran 90 mph at Bub meet with giant training wheels........an I think it caught fire at the end of the run.

Sorry I am biased for the guys who have gone over 350 mph since 2006 and held the record like Denis Manning and Mike Akatiff, and Sam Wheeler who has not held the record, but gone 355 one way.

All of the above guys are coming back to run hard salt permitting.....the Rocket will have tough competition.

Been working on the car and what's really amazing about doing one of these things is there really are no rules! Now safety and basic common sense out of the equation and you can do really anything you'd like! If you want to go out and just have "fun" copy what everyone else does and do just that. I love the aspect of being able to see what everyone else does and thinking of ways to do it different!  Theories and discussions are fine, but sometimes even that is "box" thinking! Sometimes you have to just stand back and look at things differently. Thats what makes this kind of competition so awesome!

Triumph has me on the mailing list for all sorts of stuff including the streamliner.  Putting the links to the videos on the site is hard to do, for me, anyhow.  The easiest way to get them is to go onto the u-tube site.  Type in "land speed triumph rocket 3 streamliner."  All of the videos I know about are on the first three or so of the pages that come up.

Rumor tells me this thing is being built in Oregon and not far from where I live.

Mike, I'm glad you asked.   I kinda wondered about the mayor quitting - but didn't want to seem ignorant of the story.  It's okay for you -- you live in the upside-down part of the world and therefore you're allowed to ask questions like you did.  for me -- where the temp is certainly NOT 36C -- or even 36F -- nah, I'm not supposed to be so dumb that I don't know the background story. :-D :-D

Boy, You don`t say something, then something gets said that you didn`t say, and then......

No, Mike#1, and NO, Mike#2....

Remind me to never do that again, Slim.... :-D :-D :-D

I was asked to build a 190" Modified Roadster on Saturday, though--don`t have a Chassis Table, or a building big enough to do it though....

Maybe Stan could get the Mayor to fund..........Oh, Never Mind........

Sigh....

West Linn is close to here and I drive through it every time I go to and from Portland..  They will not be bothered by me, though.

The Triumph liner looks to have the best shape.  They might be victims of trying to do too much too soon.  Denis Manning is in a couple of those movies.  He might be able to give them the advice they need.
