We kinda hate to do this, but we are putting our bellytank lakester up for sale. There's well over 25k invested (not counting labor) in this machine and it's pretty much ready to go. We will entertain all reasonable offers.

Front wheel drive , powered by a 500+ hp Chevy smallblock. There is a short video of the construction here:

I'd be happy to add any info you need on the car. email at:

Chaz, sorry to hear this...
did you ever get to have any fast fun with it?
I KNOW you had fun building it... I see the smiles.
Karl, did you read this thread yet

I second the motion

Chaz,
my partner Don & I are seriously interested in yr beautiful lil car.
It escaped our search for viable options bc we weren't (previously) interested in a V-8.
Looks like you have done a ton of work!
Could you please PM your tel number so we can call you.

Man o man, there is a ton of beautiful work in that car.

Stainless, thanks a million for bringing Chaz' post to our attention!
And double thanks for spending a bunch of time on the phone with me yesterday, helping me inch up the Lakester learning curve.
(and i thought the LSR bike guys were generous with the time and advice, this is a whole new level)
Garage at 2:10am, no motor on the bench, karl cogitating...
Why are the LSR "car guys" even more engaged than the awesome LSR "bike guys"?
i'm guessing that each serious car has a history that nearly all the LSR "names" have watched evolving.
During the development, these "names" have used this forum (THANKS SSS), given advice & encouragement.
The way you'd watch yr nieces & nephews grow up.
It seems to be personal.

I think you know that Stainless is a bike as well as a car LSR guy. The Bockscar lakester is a bike with 2 extra wheels

Now I understand why they asked me for a motorcycle license..... :-D

I watched this car go together and it is top notch. I feel for the Strange Days Crew but hope this works out for you Karl..........I am greedy and just want to see it run! :-D

Tman,
it sure looks like Chaz & his crew did a ton of very careful fabrication & built a VERY solid car.
Buying it at such an advanced state will allow us to spend the winter setting up instrumentation & data logging, doing tweaks & mods to things they just never got to.
I can't wait to see it "in the flesh" on sat morning.
It looks to have an ample cockpit, and have my fingers crossed that Don & I will fit in it. I'll bring my helmet and enough clothes to "simulate" a suit.

Wow, I remember reading the original build thread but lost track of the build. It turned out beautiful. Looks fast too. Sorry to see you sell it.
I would like to know what router bit you used to mill out the motor plate circle?
Thanks,
BR

Just a standard 1/2 inch carbide wood bit. They work well if you use A9 cutting fluid or wax. It keeps the aluminum from balling up on the bit.
-
Thanks, I have a few ideas that may be possible know that I see how you cut that motor plate.

Karl,
Did proposition 8 pass in your area also..
Try to try it on for size one at a time, seems unlikely both would fit at the same time..even bundled up tightly.
I hope you can get this car..
-
John,
Prop 8? In TEXAS?????
good point: we'll be trying it on, one at a time.

Good Luck, Guys...Seems a better physical fit for the two of you..(yeah, I know, one at a time...) Lucky that Don can organise those flights for a look, eh? If you have any questions about the safety stuff, try the Special Construction Chief in the back of the Rule Book....I would be pleased to help if I could, though... :-D

hey Paul,
I WISH that Don could could just "borrow" one of Chevron's planes and fly us there; he IS the boss afterall...
We are both still attracted by the lil blue CC, but like you say this Lakester would be a better physical fit (after some mods).
Thanks so much for your kind offer of help, we WILL take you up on it.

Chas' beautiful lil lakester isn't for sale no mo' :-D
I visited with Chuck on saturday, got a detailed review of the car, with Rex there helping explain some of the technical stuff.
Chuck & his team did an excellent job!!!
This afternoon, my partner Don & I made a deal with Chuck and it'll soon be moving South to Houston.
Thanks to everybody who provided us with info; we couldn't have made an informed decision without you guys.
Now phase one of the fun begins.

Gotta say you did well. Money wise and pain wise you got it real cheap, No-one will tell what they spent time and money wise, shame Chas and co didn't get to race it but three cheers that it will be racing soon.
Front wheel drive has shattered some records lately it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
-
All right guys---spot on
-
I'm glad it's going to a good home where it'll be used well and well used! Good catch Guys!

Hey Karl,
It was great meeting with you as well. I do hate to see the project leave our grasp, but it couldn't have landed in a better place. These guys were awesome. They didn't try to "low ball" me, but made a realistic honest and fair offer I could live with.
The car will do well under their care and they have the skills to make it what we always knew it could be. Can't ask for more than that, can ya?
-
Chaz, I'm sorry you didn't get to run it. :-( Wayno

Its OK by me Wayno.... I'm more of a builder than a possessor. I'll still get to see it run, and Karl even offered to let me take a spin when they get it to the salt. How cool and big hearted is that?
-
Pretty cool Chaz. When it's out there I'll try to track you down. Wayno

This is good to hear, race cars should be racing. :-)
