I have an opportunity to get a F86 tank. I've been told it's too small and it'll never work. I being overly confident think it's only metal and can be stretched to suit my needs. I'd be running mainly in the ECTA, and would probably use a cycle engine due it's compact size. Right now this is only scheming.

They make might fine noses and head rest fairings look at Aussie belly tanks top fairing and WW nose.

You can fit a SBC in a 24" dia tank & the driver is not a big deal if you plan it right.
Let me know if you wana talk.
Sid.

That's what I always say....... :-)

a BBC will go in a 30" :-D

Driver not a big deal?! Let me add that I'm 5'11" 195 lbs, and have torn both ligaments in my left knee, I dont bend very much.
A BBC? That escalated from my tiny cycle engine idea.

GO BIG OR GO HOME :-D

GO BIG OR GO HOME :-D
In that case, I'll just stretch it a lot, and slide in a Cummins diesel. I need a rule book, is there a class for a Diesel Lakester?
I am getting a rule book at the first of the year, when I pay a for membership.
-
You could join them together and have a really long tank

Only getting one of the tanks.
-
No class for a diesel lakester & you'd need a 40" tank to hide one of those Cummins lumps.

Alamo Aircraft in San Antonio has a bunch of B-52 Tanks that a man can walk around in---no I think you could live in the biggest ones. 8-)
-
Sure there's a class for diesel lakesters.........
It's called fuel lakester. :-P
The SCTA has a class for almost everyone.
-
Please excuse my lack of explanation, no "specific" class for diesel lakester.
Sid.

you guys are too funny.
LonH, can set you up with a 36" dia drop tank with removal sections if interested. Just in case you want to go big!

Hey Werner, long time! As you can see, we're still having fun here.

B-52 fuel-tank lakester? Here's an idea of what you'll have to work with:

LOL, took me a minute!

The whole idea behind a tank, for me at least, is transportation. I wanted to build a S10 truck for modified mini truck. That would require a truck big enough to tow it. I think with a tank I could tow it behind my GMC truck, on a home built trailer.
That B52 tank is huge. Looks like a awesome canoe, you get 2 from one.

There are two truths.
1./ you are always fatter when you are driving your tank than when you are drawing it.
2./ The only people who will encourage you to buy an F86 and build a car in it are either the current class record holder, or your son, they both know you will never be able to get in it, and if you could that you couldn't get out in time.......

I seem to remember you trying on Jeff & Randy's F86 lakester for size on your last trip Goggs!
Tanks are a lot harder to build than a truck by far, ask anybody that's built one. :-o
Sid.

busted trying to be funny
hows that been running?
-
Record last year for Randy, I think Jeff upped it again this year. I'm a little out of touch.
Sid.
-
Ok funny guy. No reason to hold your breath any longer. Here's a tank to go big with, 30 dia.
Werner

Now that looks like a good size tank

My street legal two seat tank is a 29" & there's heaps of room in that for the turbo'd 401.
Isn't a P38 tank 36"?
Sid.
-
So 24" is big enough diameter. Would probably need to be lengthened, from 10 feet to 13 or 14 feet for a more stable wheel base.
